Paper-trading FXPulse on a Pepperstone demo account, building in public. Been diving into how we actually connect Claude to our trading stack—TradingView webhooks, API calls, the whole thing. Here's what I realized: most 'AI trading assistants' are just fancy automation dressed up in marketing. The real question is whether it survives contact with live markets.

Everyone pitches you the shiny integration. Nobody talks about the gap between "automated" and "automated that actually works when real money is on the line." We're building this in public specifically because that gap is where most things die. Paper-trading first. No promises until we've earned them. Just trying to be honest about what works and what doesn't.

Spent the last few weeks looking at chart pattern libraries—40+ setups, all the classics. Hammer, head and shoulders, ascending triangles. And yeah, they're useful to know. But here's what nobody tells you: knowing the pattern isn't the same as knowing when to trade it.

I've watched traders memorize pattern names, then get wrecked live because the book never explained the market conditions that make a pattern actually work. A bullish flag in a ranging market plays different than a bullish flag in a strong uptrend. Same pattern, totally different edge.

That's the gap we're trying to close with FXPulse—not just showing you setups, but testing them live in the actual conditions they'll face. No backtest fairy tales. Just what works, what doesn't, and why.

Been thinking about why every forex bot I've tried tanks the moment it goes live.

Most bots are trained to memorize what worked in the past. They fit the data so perfectly in backtest that they break when the market does anything slightly different. It's not a bug—it's how traditional optimization works.

Reinforcement learning approaches this differently. Instead of curve-fitting historical charts, the bot learns from actual wins and losses as they happen. No "perfect" backtest to become a trap. It's learning a policy—how to react to feedback—not memorizing patterns.

We're building FXPulse this way, training across the pairs it trades, and showing everything live on paper. No cherry-picked track records. Just honest results.

Has anyone else tried RL-based trading, or does this sound like another promise that'll break on contact with real markets?

I've been comparing how ChatGPT and Gemini reason about the same forex charts—identical prompts, same setup, same rules. You'd think they'd land on similar signals, right?

They don't. Not even close. One reads a setup as a breakout, the other reads it as a fade. Same data, completely different interpretations.

This is the stuff that kills traders. You backtest a strategy, it looks clean. You deploy it live, reality shifts. Or you grab "AI trading signals" from different tools and assume they're comparable because they're both "verified." They're not.

I wanted to see how these tools actually reason instead of guessing. If you've ever deployed a signal service or EA and watched it fail live after the backtest looked perfect, curious what you'd ask ChatGPT vs Gemini if you ran them head-to-head.
