Year 4 Camp

Our final day was packed with even more outdoor fun, adventure and challenges, giving our students plenty of opportunities to test their bravery, determination and teamwork.

There were plenty of laughs, encouragement and proud moments as everyone stepped outside their comfort zones, supported one another and gave new challenges a go.

We finished camp happy, proud and very tired, with lots of wonderful memories to take home!

A huge thank you to our amazing staff for their energy, care, encouragement and hard work throughout the camp. Your dedication helped make this experience so special for our students.

Year 4 Camp at Great Aussie Bush Camp!

What an incredible adventure our Year 4 students are having at Great Aussie Bush Camp!

The students have already taken on an amazing range of challenges, including the Flying Fox, High Ropes, Mud World, Archery and Giant Swing.

They have shown fantastic courage, resilience, teamwork and determination, stepping outside their comfort zones and encouraging each other along the way.

School camps provide students with opportunities to develop independence, build friendships and strengthen relationships with their classmates and teachers. Outdoor education also allows students to connect with nature, take on challenges, solve problems and develop confidence through hands-on experiences.

For many students, camp creates those special memories and achievements that stay with them long after they return to school.

Book Week

What a fantastic Book Week! There were plenty of smiles, creativity and amazing book characters bringing our school to life.

It was wonderful to see so many members of our school and wider community join us in celebrating the joy of books and reading. Your support helped make the celebrations such a memorable experience for our students.

Book Week is about so much more than dressing up. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading, encourage students to discover new books and authors, and develop a lifelong love of literature. Reading helps children build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, develop imagination and explore new ideas, experiences and perspectives.

A huge thank you to our wonderful staff and our amazing Teacher Librarian, Mr Tassell, for the incredible effort, creativity and enthusiasm that went into making Book Week such a fun and memorable experience for everyone.

PSSA Girls Basketball Hunter Final Champions!

What a fantastic achievement for our Floraville girls.
Our team played a hard-fought Hunter Final against a determined Cundletown Public School, who travelled to Floraville for the match.

The girls showed tremendous skill, teamwork and resilience to secure a 37–22 victory and be crowned Hunter Champions!

A huge congratulations to the entire team on an outstanding performance. We are incredibly proud of the way you represented Floraville!

The journey continues…
The girls now progress to the NSWPSSA Knockout Finals in Penrith, where they will take on some of the best primary school basketball teams in the state.

A Historic Achievement for Floraville

Congratulations to Isaiah on an outstanding achievement at the NSW PSSA Boys Rugby Championships in Mudgee.

Across three days of competition against some of the strongest primary school rugby teams in NSW, Isaiah’s determination, hard work and commitment stood out to the NSW selectors. Despite Hunter finishing 8th overall, Isaiah was selected as the only Hunter player in the 22-player NSW PSSA Development Squad!

This is the first time a Floraville student has achieved NSW PSSA selection in rugby, making this a particularly special milestone for our school community.

Isaiah set himself the goal of making NSW after representing Hunter in PSSA Rugby Union last year, and his persistence and dedication have helped turn that goal into reality.

His success is a wonderful example of our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) physical domain in action. At Floraville, our extensive sporting programs, PSSA opportunities and commitment to developing students’ strengths provide pathways for students to pursue excellence and reach their potential.

The NSW PSSA Development Squad will attend coaching workshops and development opportunities in September, providing Isaiah with further opportunities to develop his skills and continue his sporting journey.

We are incredibly proud of you, Isaiah! We can’t wait to see where your hard work and determination take you next.

Celebrating Positive Behaviour

At Floraville Public School, we believe in recognising, celebrating and rewarding positive behaviour.

Over the next two weeks, our focus is Organisation. Classes will explore what being organised looks like and sounds like in the classroom and playground.

We’ll be looking out for students demonstrating these positive behaviours and celebrating their efforts along the way.

Together, we’re building a school community where positive choices are noticed, valued and rewarded.

PSSA Netball Regional Semi-Final

Today our PSSA Netball team secured a hard-fought 23–17 victory over Charlestown South Public School, booking their place in the Regional Final!

It was a tough, high-pressure contest, but the girls showed fantastic determination, composure and teamwork, particularly in the second half as they settled into their game and pulled away. Congratulations, girls, on an outstanding team effort!

We wish them the very best for the Regional Final in the coming weeks. Bring it on!

Standing Together Against Bullying

Our Stage 2 and Stage 3 students recently took the time to engage in an Anti-Bullying Helpline webinar, exploring practical ways to recognise bullying, respond safely, support others and know when to seek help.

The interactive session provided valuable opportunities for students to build empathy, strengthen communication skills and develop confidence in speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.

It was fantastic to see our students listening, contributing and reflecting on how we can all help create a safe, respectful and inclusive school community.

Eastlake PSSA Athletics Carnival

What a brilliant sunny day at Glendale Sports Centre on Friday for the Eastlake PSSA Athletics Carnival!

Our Floraville students competed exceptionally well, showing determination throughout the day. We’re incredibly proud of the many ribbons, personal bests and outstanding performances achieved.

Hunter will soon provide schools with the list of students progressing through to the Hunter PSSA Zone Athletics Carnival on Friday 28 August.

Jeans for Genes Day 👖

Our school community loved getting behind Jeans for Genes Day by wearing denim and supporting an important cause close to our hearts.

We are especially proud to support Amelia, one of our Year 3 students and a former face of the Jeans for Genes campaign. Amelia lives with Kabuki Syndrome, and research into rare genetic conditions provides hope for children and families like hers.

Thanks to the generosity of our students, families and staff, we raised over $550, which was doubled by Jeans for Genes sponsors to more than $1,000!
