What began as a NAIDOC week visit five years ago has transformed into a meaningful partnership between St Nicholas Early Education Lochinvar and St Joseph's College, Lochinvar🫶

Thanks to the collaboration between teachers and educators’ children and students are coming together weekly to engage in the Yalawa Cultural Sharing Program - a unique cross-educational partnership that strengthens connections between early learning, secondary education and the wider community🌿

Its fostering a deeper appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures for our early learners thanks to St Joseph’s secondary who proudly share their knowledge, stories and traditions💙

Since 2016, St Nicholas has grown from two Early Education centres into a network of 44 service locations, supporting 16,664 children and 12,872 families across the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

Red Nose Day highlights SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), the impacts of SIDS and research going into improving the evidence for best safe sleep practices.

Our team’s morning tea reflected on best practice around safe sleeping for infants and children – something our teams ensure are applied in their roles daily.

Today, we had the pleasure of a visit from Emma and Deb from H&A Training, who delivered an engaging and informative ‘First Aid for kids’ workshop.

The children were eager to dive into the hands-on experience and remained fully engaged throughout. They asked lots of thoughtful questions and showed real enthusiasm for learning these important skills.

This experience truly empowered the children, giving them the confidence to act in an emergency and a sense of responsibility for helping others.

We’re proud to say they passed their certification with flying colours!

We’ve updated our bond payment structure to make enrolling more affordable for families:

👉 $100 per day, capped at $400 per child

This means:
• 1 day/week = $100 bond
• 3 days/week = $300 bond
• 5 days/week = $400 bond (maximum)

Are you already a family of St Nicks and paid a higher bond? Don’t worry – you’ll automatically receive a credit.

Fletcher Early Learning Centre will be rebranded to St Nicholas Early Education in June 2024.

Since February 2023, Fletcher Early Learning Centre has been owned and operated by St Nicholas, and as one of the largest providers of early education and care in the Hunter region, the rebrand means St Nicholas will be in a better position to fully leverage its scale and resources to provide a better experience for children, families, and team members.

Our preschoolers were thrilled to share their knowledge with their younger peers and led them through puddles, leaves, sticks, flowers while pointing out various bugs, animals and insects as they explored their community.

It was an amazing sight watching these little ones learn together without any barriers creating lifelong bonds over this simple, yet powerful connection made during one magical educational journey within nature.
