📚🎭 Book Week Parade 2026 🎭📚

Today we celebrated Book Week with a wonderful parade inspired by this year's theme, Symphony of Stories.

Students, staff, parents and siblings joined in the fun, showcasing an incredible range of creative and colourful costumes. It was fantastic to see so many beloved book characters brought to life and to share our love of reading as a community.

This year's CBCA Picture Book of the Year, Once I Was a Giant, was a special highlight, reminding us of the power of stories to inspire imagination, wonder and connection.

Thank you to all our families for the effort that went into the costumes and for joining us for such a memorable celebration. There were smiles everywhere and plenty of opportunities to celebrate the joy that books bring to our lives.

🔬🧪 Science Week Fun at St Bonaventure's! 🧪🔬

Last week our students embraced their inner scientists during Science Week with a range of hands-on challenges and experiments!

From designing and testing paper planes to see whose could fly the furthest, to working collaboratively to build towering spaghetti structures, students put their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to the test. The week was topped off with the always-popular Elephant Toothpaste experiment, which had everyone amazed as science came to life right before their eyes!

It was wonderful to see so much curiosity, creativity, and excitement as students explored the world of science through fun and engaging activities.

On Saturday, August 15, we will joyfully celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic Church, when we honour the sacred mystery of Mary’s bodily and spiritual being taken into heavenly glory. This feast invites us to turn our hearts and eyes heavenward, recalling that as Mary was assumed into eternal life, so too are we called to follow her into the joyous fullness of God's kingdom when our earthly pilgrimage concludes. ✨🌙☁️

Today, we extend our warmest wishes to the many families in our St Bonaventure's College community who are celebrating Indian Independence Day.

This significant occasion honours India's journey to independence and celebrates the rich history, cultures, languages, traditions and contributions of the Indian people. We are grateful for the many families whose Indian heritage enriches our College community through their values, faith, generosity and commitment to learning.

As a Catholic College with a Franciscan charism, we celebrate the dignity of every person and the gifts that come from sharing our stories, cultures and traditions.

Our diversity is a blessing that strengthens our sense of belonging and helps us build a compassionate and connected community.

Year 1 Procedure Writing in Action! 🍞✨

Our Year 1 students recently brought their learning to life in the Food Technology room as they applied their knowledge of procedure writing and action verbs to make their very own fairy bread and cordial!

Students carefully read and followed a procedure, identified key action words and worked step-by-step to create their tasty treats. Along the way, they had the opportunity to use a variety of kitchen equipment, develop their fine motor skills, and practise following instructions independently.

There was plenty of excitement as students spread, sprinkled, poured, mixed and created, all while making meaningful connections between their classroom learning and real-world experiences.

Of course, the highlight of the lesson was enjoying their delicious creations together! The verdict? As one student put it: "This is the best lesson ever!"

Today, we recognise the rights of the global indigenous population and celebrate their unique cultures, traditions, knowledge and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Indigenous peoples around the world.

This date is chosen in recognition of the first meeting of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations held in Geneva in 1982.

We honour the enduring connection of First Nations peoples to Country, culture, community and story, and acknowledge the wisdom and strength they continue to share with future generations.
