Everyone talks about vocal technique... but what does it actually mean? 🤔
Well first of all, it isn't about sounding "trained", and certainly not robotic. It's about understanding how your voice works. It's learning what the edges are of your potential, capability and your vocal 'mechanism' or instrument, so you can use it freely, confidently, and without strain.
It involves the study of areas like: The Breath. Posture. Resonance. Pitch. Tone. All of it working together.
And it sometimes makes beginners a little hesitant, but, the reality is, it also is what makes singing so very accessible...because you already have all the puzzle pieces in you to craft a beautiful singing voice.
If you are an Adult Beginner, our Singing for Adult Beginners course breaks it all down in a way that actually makes sense.

"I'm not a singer" is rarely about the voice. It's about one moment that made it a belief.
The brain is remarkably good at building identity from single experiences, especially ones tied to embarassing moments or comparison...or even competition.
That story calcifies, and we stop trying. But singing is a motor skill, not a gift. Like any skill, it responds to instruction and repetition, regardless of where you start. And how we love changing that story for our Adult students.
If you'd like to learn more about singing as an Adult Beginner, head to our website or link in bio.

"I'm not a singer. I can't sing."
It's one of the most common phrases we hear. Almost every person that fills in our booking forms as a new adult student should something to this effect.
We really dream to change this.
Because somewhere along the way, many people were taught that singing is something you're either born with or you're not.
We see it differently. And we won't lie to you - While everyone has limitations) think of every artist you love and how different they all are), everyone has possibility.
Singing is a skill. Like Piano playing is a skill.
And your voice is unique - just like songs are unique.
Singing an be learned, practised, refined, and strengthened over time - and when you find the right songs that fit your voice, your skill level and your personal taste, singing beautifully isnt a "maybe", it's a definite.
Some people may start further ahead than others, but every singer develops the same interconnected skills.
You don't need to be the best singer in the room.
You don't need natural talent or years of experience.
You simply need a willingness to begin, and to stick with it the same way you would learning a language, a musical instrument or sport.
✨ If singing has been sitting on your "one day" list for a while, perhaps this is your sign.
