🏉 FATHER'S DAY BREAKFAST - 'Kicking Goals Together', with special guest, Ruby Tripodi
We're thrilled to welcome Ruby Tripodi, North Melbourne premiership midfielder, to join us for our Father's Day Breakfast!
Since joining North Melbourne in 2023 (after back-to-back best and fairest awards with Williamstown in the VFLW), Ruby has transformed from a forward into one of the competition's toughest inside midfielders. Ruby has been a key part of North Melbourne's midfield engine room across back-to-back premierships in 2024 and 2025.
The Academy Parent's Assocation invite fathers, grandfathers, brothers, guardians and carers in our Academy community to join us for breakfast with a Q&A session with North Mebourne star, Ruby Tripodi.
📅Friday 4th September | 🕖 📍7.00am - 8.00am
🎟️ Tickets are $18 and available via Try Booking. Please remember to book for your daughter as well. https://www.trybooking.com/DOMCH
Plus there will be a door prize for a lucky dad and his daughter!
Ticket sales end on Monday August 31 at 9.00am unless SOLD OUT earlier.

“Last week as part of the Academy NAIDOC week celebrations, students learned to weave.
Learning to weave connects us deeply with First Nations culture by allowing us to engage with an ancient, living art form passed down through generations. Across many Indigenous communities, weaving is far more than a practical craft; it is a sacred practice of storytelling, community gathering, and deep connection to Country. By learning the patient rhythm of wrapping and stitching, we actively honor the sophisticated knowledge systems, artistry, and cultural endurance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We undertook this weaving circle during NAIDOC Week because this dedicated week is a time for all Australians to focus on celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of First Nations communities. Participating in a hands-on cultural practice like weaving allows our school to move beyond passive observation and into active, respectful engagement. It provides a meaningful space to sit together, listen, and learn—reflecting the core spirit of reconciliation and unity that NAIDOC Week represents.”

‘Respect’ was the theme this morning, at the Academy Yr 7 Mass in the Ursula Frayne Chapel, celebrated by Father Peter Varengo.
Student readers spoke of helping to honour everyone’s dignity and the importance of treating others with kindness and fairness.
Fr Peter reminded the students how each student brings unique gifts and how together, the students will grow and develop with the strength of their community.
A beautiful morning of reflection for our Year 7 students, six months into their journey at the Academy.

Term 3 kicks off tomorrow with the celebration of NAIDOC Week.
This year marks a major milestone as the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week (5-12 July) under the official 2026 national theme, "50 Years of Deadly."
At the Academy, our focus will be "Celebrating First Nations Excellence" in science, sport, music and more.
🎶 Listen out for our morning music! We are swapping out the regular morning bells for a "Deadly Playlist" featuring incredible First Nations artists like Baker Boy Christine Anu and more.
🎨 Tuesday to Friday: Jump into our school-wide Colouring Competition.
Get ready for an amazing week of learning, culture and celebration!
