Teamwork, creativity, and plenty of laughter! 🙌

Our Year 7 Icebreaker Event brought together students from the Academy of Mary Immaculate and Simonds Catholic College for an afternoon of fun challenges and new friendships.

Students had to work together to solve problems and support one another. Teams were also challenged to build the tallest tower possible using only newspaper, string, and paper, testing both their creativity and teamwork skills. Another activity required students to transport a marble across 10m using only five cardboard tubes!

A wonderful afternoon of connection and community. Well done to all students!

Our Year 9 students were delighted to have much acclaimed Australian author Alice Pung speak to them about her life, the writing process and her novel ‘Laurinda’.

Alice is also the author of the memoirs ‘Unpolished Gem’ and ‘Her Father’s Daughter’, the novel ‘One Hundred Days’, the essay collection ‘Close to Home’, as well as the editor of the anthologies ‘Growing Up Asian in Australia’ and ‘My First Lesson’. She is currently the writer-in-residence at the University of Melbourne and an Adjunct Professor in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University.

St Mary's Primary School Thornbury got a taste of high school life at the Academy yesterday.

Students created art, whipped up pizza muffins, experimented in science, took a dance class and played some outdoor activities.

Our Discovery Day is designed to help students get started in their transition journey to high school.

Students were guided by our Year 8 and 9’s while some of our student baristas made coffee for our guest teachers.

Best of luck to all the students in their high school journey ahead!

Yesterday marked 100 days of ‘yr 12’. There were dress ups from yesteryear and a fundraiser bbq towards a local charity for the elderly. Well done to our Senior Student Leadership team for your creative dress ups and all for a good cause.
