Year 10 DTFM – YumTown Comes to Life! 🌮🍔

Our Year 10 Design and Technologies food students brought their YumTown Food Truck concepts to life during today’s exam block.

Throughout the unit, students have worked through the design process to develop their own food truck or pop-up restaurant concept, considering their target customer, theme and menu before designing a signature dish.

Today was the exciting culmination of this work, with students preparing and professionally presenting their food truck-inspired meals. They demonstrated creativity, organisation, time management and practical food skills as they transformed their ideas from design to plate! 👏🍽️

Book Week 2026 at Holy Spirit College 📚

What a wonderful week of celebrating the joy of reading, imagination and storytelling last week!

Our students enjoyed a range of exciting activities throughout the week, including visiting St Flannan's School to read with Year 2 students, sharing their love of books and building connections with our local community.

We had a photobooth set up in the library with a few costumes for the students to wear.

We showcased some incredible creativity through student-produced book trailers, bringing favourite stories to life in innovative and engaging ways.

We celebrated Library and Information Week with cupcakes.

To top it all off, students and staff embraced the spirit of Book Week with a fantastic Dress Up Day, featuring an array of colourful and creative costumes inspired by beloved book characters.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make Book Week such a memorable celebration of stories, learning and community, particularly our Teacher Librarian, Ms Gilbey, our Library Assistant, Ms Ying and our Media and Event Coordinator, Ms Cutter.

A small glimpse of a reality!
This is how the sleepout was designed for 36 Year 11 students who took the courageous step to engage in the inaugural HSC sleepout on 21-22 August.

It was cold and uncomfortable on the chilly floor of the Hall and with little nutritious food in their bellies they endured until morning when they were able to have a feed of bacon and egg burgers!

Thank you to the students who stepped into the unknown; Ms Barry, Ms Davidson and Ms Kenny for their organisation, resourcing and presence; Mr Schultz, Ms Barry and Ms Holden for staying overnight and keeping the children safe; Mr le Roux, Ms Pacey, Ms Wallace, Ms Rivera, Ms Hollamby, Ms Elmer, Mr Martyn who generously gave of their time to come in throughout the night and the many staff behind the scenes who assisted in many ways.

Thank you is also extended to the parents who were involved as cooks for dinner and breakfast.

The sleepout concluded with a ritual and blessing where those involved were encouraged to keep their light shining for all to see as they make a difference in our world.

As part of our book week celebrations, a group of Year 9 and Year 11 students enjoyed a special visit to St Flannan's Primary School Zillmere where they spent time reading with the Year 2 classes.

It was wonderful to see our students sharing their love of reading, building connections and bringing stories to life for their younger peers.

Congratulations to our outstanding Holy Spirit College representatives who were recognised at the BCE Excellence Awards!

A special congratulations to our College Board members, Stephan le Roux, Andrew McEwan and Jess Armstrong, on receiving a Commendation for Excellence in Family Engagement.

We also celebrate our Festival of Ideas Committee members, Troy Shultz, Cassie Geissmann and Alicia Thompson, who received a Commendation for Excellence in Championing Student Voice.

These well-deserved recognitions reflect their dedication, leadership and commitment to fostering strong partnerships with families and empowering student voices within our College community. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and grateful for the positive impact they continue to make.
