Celebrating Chinese New Year at Kindy! šŸ®šŸ§§

Happy Chinese New Year from our kindy family!

We’ve been exploring the traditions and celebrations of Chinese New Year together. Our children have been captivated by the beautiful red and gold decorations, learning about lucky symbols, and discovering new vocabulary through our cultural play space.

Tomorrow we have some exciting experiences planned:
šŸ‰ Chinese Dragon Dance - moving, dancing, and celebrating together
šŸŽØ Collaborative Mural - creating our own Chinese New Year artwork
šŸš Fried Rice Cooking Experience - exploring new tastes and cooking techniques
🄁 Drum Making - creating instruments and exploring rhythm

These experiences offer wonderful opportunities for all our children to learn about and celebrate the rich cultural diversity in our kindy community.

If your family celebrates Chinese New Year, we’d love to hear about your traditions! Feel free to share photos or stories with us.

Wishing everyone good fortune and happiness in the year ahead! ęå–œå‘č“¢ (Gong Xi Fa Cai)!

It’s been a long while between posts… but whilst I have been in my new job role now for nearly two years, I thought I would share part of my journey so far… last year we lost my dear pug Edna - whilst this rocked my family, we were blessed with this wee lill sister (Edna’s sister but same Dad) Betty. Betty’s name was chosen by the children at kindy as she has learnt to become a support puppy. She is currently six months old and has definitely exceeded my expectations. She has become our littlest love in every way… this journey has been full of peace, light and compassion. We now can’t imagination not having her in our learning space.

Sunday nights… sees our program finalised for the coming week, this design poster is for our families and homemade resource to support a spontaneous teacher idea extending our sustainability inquiry. I wonder where this week will take us…

We have been so busy these past few weeks, especially with Easter, Mother’s Day and all the public holidays in between… my kinders have been a hive of busy bees! Easter saw my first Easter with them making Easter hats and doing our own Easter egg hunt… then Mother’s Day making special earring with portraits of their mums!!! And on top of all that we have been exploring Sustainability… which has been just amazing for not just my kinders but families and the service!

We have started our worm farm, compost and now exploring how we can make our world a better place. It’s really beautiful seeing our new class pet join our classroom, Miss Turtle. Whom has enjoyed her visits with our kindy children and exploring their sustainable practices they do at home. And then they share them with the class the following day at our yarn! The children have seen similarities among our family homes but also learn new ways we can help, change and begin!!! This truly makes my heart sing! Next week sees us explore soft plastics and their effects on our world.

Our room has seen some changes this week, one due to rain and two needing to reset to keep our children inspired. This too helps during long periods of not being outside, but also quieter our big play people. But something we are hoping to initiate are rainsuits for all the kindy children, that way rain, wind or sunshine we will be able to play no matter the weather! It’s something I miss from my FDC days but honestly wet weather is just another element we can explore and enjoy.

Our learning space has transformed so much since I have started. It’s has been through so many tears but hard work from all of us! The children guide the learning space as to what intentions are thought of to support, ignite and deepen learning… the environment technically becomes the third teacher in that sense. With school holidays here these next two weeks see our kinders bring their understanding of Easter! Traditions are shared during our yarns and our experiences support our family traditions.

We have also Henny Penny hatchlings, bringing so much more to the celebration as we watch our little chicks hatch and grow! Today we were able to witness one cracking the shell, carefully with support the children were also able to hear the chick from inside the shell! As I held it safely in my hands, the children were able to get close enough to listen to her chirps; seeing their eyes grow wide in awe, seeing them speechless and so excited for the next part of the journey of her emerging from her egg shell! Unfortunately, this happened well after I finished this afternoon but means we can do this all again tomorrow amd the added bonus of celebrating one kinders’ birthday too!

Hello!!!!

So sorry I haven’t posted in such a long time… but it has been a crazy few months… Where have I been you ask?…

Well first, I finished my degree in February, which means no more study at this stage!

I can now say I am finally a TEACHER! Who would have thought this day would come. I am so incredibly proud of my achievement and love what I do!

I am currently working at a beautiful service in Ipswich and honestly work with the most amazing Teachers! My kinders are just amazing and we are in the midst of the first school holidays of the year.

We sold my black bus… an unexpected moment but loving my small sporty car…

We made it through another flood and all those close to us were safe. We helped those who needed an extra set of hands and pretty much waited it out till we could go back to work.

We have survived covid, can say that wasn’t fun to have at the end of my study and I really had to dig deep to finish those last three assessments!

My own children have gone by leaps and bounds too. I now have two drivers! And all extremely successful at everything they put their minds too! Hubby is busy as always and his business goes from strength to strength… and my pugs - we are hoping they are expecting soon, only time will tell!

Now that we have done a quick catch-up I’m about to catch you up to date with what my kinder class is up to now…

This week I will be doing my first Kindergarten Information night… having created a slideshow to help prompt but also encourage parent participation using the ever amazing Canva! Not only does it create amazing professional documents I also create my learning stories and other documentation I do.

But on another note, any Kindergarten teachers out there with any ideas I can add? Please let me know 😘
