We are heading into Week 7-A! This is the second week of the HSC Trial Examinations and we wish our Year 12 students all the best. Year 11 End of Course Exams are coming up in Weeks 8 and 9. Subject and Elective selections are due next Friday September 4 - students are reminded to check in with their classroom teachers and Head Teachers if they have any questions. 7A brought Mystery Boxes (for History - archaeology) to school last week. The aim was to create a box with 10 artefacts about themselves inside. The boxes were then spread around the room and students had some time to investigate the boxes and try to work out which box belonged to which classmate. This was a fun activity and we learned a lot about each other.

The Nations of Origin 2027 expression of interest is open now! Students will participate in a range of sports including Netball, Basketball and NRL and will also have the opportunity to attend Cultural days in the lead up to the tournament.

Boys and girls aged 14 and 16 are eligible. The program is open to all Identified students with limited spaces for non-Indigenous students.

The program starts mid-November so put your EOI in soon - organisers will contact students in the lead up to confirm details and dates.

Year 8 have been tasked with recreating one of the practicals from this unit of work. A special shout-out to Luella, who met the brief with her beautifully prepared and presented berry pastries, inspired by the apple pastries we shared a few weeks ago.
Well done, Luella! And a huge congratulations to everyone in 8T6 who has demonstrated such great technical skill, creativity and ability throughout this unit of work.

Year 10 student Kira spent the week doing work experience with JLW Fitouts. The company is currently doing a fit out of a medical centre in Mt Druitt and Kira has had the opportunity to get stuck in. This all encompassing work experience has seen Kira do framing, insulating, gyprocking and more. Kira has absolutely loved her time with the JLW crew and they have really enjoyed having her. Her supervisor, Jeremy, has said that Kira is a great worker and a quick learner. Congratulations on a wonderful week Kira, and thank you to Jeremy and all the staff at JLW Fitouts for giving Kira this opportunity. She certainly has the building bug.

Year 10 FT1 were recently faced with a One Egg Challenge!
With only minimal additional ingredients allowed, students were challenged to draw on their technical skills and knowledge of egg cookery, having experimented with the four basic egg cookery methods in a recent lesson.
Take a closer look at Harry’s “fried” egg—and yes, Sarah made chocolate pasta with her egg! A sweet version of the 'Cloud Egg' by Lily D and Scarlett and even the notoriously difficult omurice was attempted by Isabella and Zoe M.
Such a talented and creative group of students! We’re looking forward to seeing what they produce when they take on their next practical assessment task, where they will be challenged to create something using a preserved food.
Well done, FT1! Your creativity, technical skills and willingness to experiment have been fantastic to see.

Year 11 student Eli recently spent the week doing work experience with Camloc Mechanical Services. It was a very hands-on work experience where Eli was able to get his hands dirty and it required very early mornings - Eli set an alarm for 2:30am in order to get to the heart of the city on time. The job he worked on was installing air conditioning for the top three levels of a commercial building which is getting a full renovation. Eli helped build frames for the units themselves, as well as getting the units in place. He also helped with all the pipe work involved on such a big job. The equipment that Eli is carrying in the picture is used to bend and mold the piping to fit in place. Eli was able to create part of the piping independently. He absolutely loved the experience and we thank John, Cam, and all the team from Camloc Mechanical Services for giving Eli this wonderful opportunity.
