Today is Mad Hatter's day!

In the 1865 novel 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' written by Lewis Carroll, the Mad Hatter is an eccentric milliner (hat maker) who is forever stuck at a tea party with his friend the March Hare. You may not know that many hat makers went mad because mercury was used to stiffen the felt for hats prior to 1941. The date October 6 was selected for this date because it is drawn on the price tag of the Mad Hatter's hat: 10/6 which is 10 shillings and 6 pence.

Do you like to read non-fiction? Remember that everyone at FVHS (teachers too!) has access to our reading program, MyOn. You don't have to complete any activities unless you want to. You can just read the books on whichever subject takes your fancy. If you have forgotton your user name or password, please contact your English teacher.

We have been fortunate to secure a 3 month free trial of ebooks and audio books for our school. These are accesses through ePlatform by Wheelers and the majority of these books are fiction.
