🌷🌸SUPPORTING THE EYNESBURY MOTHER'S DAY CLASSIC FUNRUN🌸🌷

We have been working with a number of members in the local Eynesbury community to create a banner that was used on the weekend to indicate the 'Start Line' in the annual Eynesbury Classic Mother’s Day run. We collaborated with event organisers to become involved and then went back to the children at our service for their ideas and input on the design of our banner.

We created a range of flowers to show our support of the event that were used to decorate the fences that lined the event track, and worked closely with some members of the Eynesbury Men’s Shed to get their advice on how to install our banner and they were amazingly helpful and generous with their time and resources. Thanks to the families that purchased a ribbon and pledged a donation to support breast cancer research! The ribbons looked amazing hanging from the banner and Jax enjoyed finding his and posing for a photograph for us (Thanks Mel). šŸ™‚

Being an active part of a community allows children an opportunity to experience relationships and can contribute to a child’s sense of belonging, being and becoming. Having a positive sense of identity and experiencing respectful, responsive relationships strengthens children’s interest and skills in being and becoming active contributors to their world.

When educators create environments in which children experience mutually enjoyable, caring and respectful relationships with people and the environment, children respond accordingly.

Children’s connectedness and different ways of belonging with people, country and communities helps them to learn ways of being which reflect the values, traditions and practices of their families and communities.

We would like to thank our wonderful Eynesbury community - families and children for making this an event to remember, sparking joy and social connectedness for a worthy cause!

🐰🐣Easter at Eynesbury Kindergarten🐣🐰 - celebrations can be as diverse as each of the children and families at our service.

When incorporated into children’s services appropriately, celebrations can be used to bring people together, to create a feeling of belonging and to develop a sense of community amongst families, educators and children. The incorporation of celebrations into our curriculum is an enriching experience for children, educators and families. If incorporated in a sensitive and respectful manner, celebrations can provide an opportunity for children to develop respect for diverse values and beliefs as they learn about practices which are different to their own.

Children belong first to a family, a cultural group, a neighbourhood and a wider community. Belonging acknowledges children’s interdependence with others and the basis of relationships in defining identities. In early childhood and throughout life, relationships are crucial to a sense of belonging. Belonging is central to being and becoming in that it shares who children are and who they can become’ (EYLF, 2009, p.7).

Many families at Eynesbury Kindergarten indicated to us that Easter was an important celebration to them. We created Easter themed playdough for each family to take home and enjoy on the holidays. We made an intentional decision to not give children chocolate in line with our healthy eating policy and in light of the fact that many people in our learning community have allergies.
