Wellbeing Wednesday 🫶

This week, students are taking part in a wellbeing lesson before beginning the Wellbeing and Engagement Survey. The lesson helps unpack the language and ideas in the questions, so students feel confident and prepared. All students will complete the survey by Friday 18 September.

The survey also gives families a chance to share their voice. Next week, we’ll share information about how families can complete the survey and provide their valuable feedback.

Our final Topic Spotlight looks at two key areas: Have a Positive Sense of Culture and Identity and Are Healthy.

The types of questions students are asked on these areas are:

🔹Do you feel accepted and valued by other
students and teachers?
🔹Do you feel that you belong at your school?
🔹Do you think your school is a nice place to be?
🔹Would you describe yourself as healthy?
🔹What things do you look forward to in the future?
🔹When you’re worried, what helps you feel better?

The graphic below shares some of the 2025 survey data from Year 4–12 students across Tasmanian Government schools in these areas. Our own EHS survey results also help us understand the experiences of our students and guide how we support their wellbeing and learning 💙

What a huge effort from our Year 7-10 students today! As part of Book Week, 30 students took on the huge challenge of Write a Book in a Day - working together to plan, write and illustrate a complete children’s book in just one day! 📖✨

They have shown outstanding creativity, resilience and teamwork throughout the day. Not only have they created something amazing, but their books will also bring joy to children in hospitals across Australia while supporting vital research through The Kids’ Cancer Project.

It was a busy final hour as they worked towards the finish line, adding those last touches before submitting their books!

We are so proud of the effort, creativity and spirit they have shown today. What a fantastic achievement! 💙

Reminder: Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser - Next Sunday, 30 August!

Our Exeter High School Association will be at Bunnings North Launceston next Sunday, 30 August, and we’d love our school community to get involved!

A big thank you to everyone who has already booked a volunteer spot - we really appreciate your support 💙 we’d love a few more people to lend a hand on the day if you’re available.

Funds raised will be split between helping reduce the cost of rugby jumpers and surname printing for our Year 9 students heading into Year 10, and supporting this year's Year 10 Graduation activities.

It's Book Week! 📚

We're excited to celebrate The Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week this week, with 30 students across Years 7-10 taking part in The Kids' Cancer Project Write a Book in a Day on Tuesday, followed by our whole-school Book Character Dress-Up Day on Friday! Students who have pre-ordered can also look forward to enjoying their jacket potatoes at lunchtime!

Looking for a hands-on agricultural experience these school holidays?

Young people aged 12–18 can join expert trainer Nic Kentish at Exeter High School to learn practical skills for handling sheep and cattle calmly, safely and confidently using modern low-stress techniques. No prior experience is required.
