🔔 Celebrating 33 Years of Faithful Service
Today marks a special milestone as Northside staff member Marylyn Dalziel begins a well-earned retirement after an incredible 33 years of dedicated service to our College in the Finance Department.
Staff gathered around Marylyn in prayer, thanking God for her many years at Northside and praying His blessing over her retirement. To mark the occasion, Marylyn rang the Founders’ Bell three times, one ring for each decade of service.

Year 8 Debating – Top 8 in Brisbane! 👏
Congratulations to our Year 8 Debating Team, who are through to the QDU Quarterfinals!
On Thursday night, the team faced QAMST in Finals Round 3, competing as the Affirmative in a short-prep debate on the topic, “That schools should require teachers to discuss current affairs with students.”
After another fantastic team effort, they secured the win and will now compete in the Quarterfinals at Brisbane Girls Grammar School on Tuesday night, where the debate will be decided by a panel of three adjudicators.
From an original field of 164 schools, our Year 8s are now among the Top 8 in Brisbane, placing them in the top 5% of the Year 8 QDU competition!
An incredible achievement built on teamwork, courage, and many hours of preparation. We are incredibly proud of how far they have come and wish them all the very best for Tuesday night!

Year 7 Camp ❄️
From Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial to the snowy slopes of the Snowy Mountains, our Year 7 students enjoyed an unforgettable week of learning and adventure.
Students brought their History, Civics and Politics learning to life in Canberra before heading to Jindabyne for two days of skiing. There was perseverance, new skills and opportunities to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation.
A huge thank you to our staff and parent volunteers who made this such a memorable experience.
We gratefully acknowledge the Australian Government, which contributed $90 per student through the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program.

🌲⛺🔥The Year 11 Leadership Camp at Camp Somerset marked the beginning of an exciting season of growth as students stepped into their role as the senior cohort.
Surrounded by the beauty of Lake Somerset, students were challenged to reflect on what leadership means to them personally and how their unique strengths can positively influence those around them.
Students were encouraged to consider that leadership is not about a title, but about serving others with integrity, humility and courage. As Year 11 returned to the College, they did so with a shared commitment to lead together, living out our College motto, Character Through Christ, and striving to make a positive difference within the Northside community.

🌳🔥⭐ The Year 4 Camp at Warrawee was one of the highlights of the year, providing students with an exciting opportunity to learn new skills, challenge themselves and build lasting friendships.
Students participated in a range of adventurous activities, including crate stacking, canoeing, low ropes and archery. A particular favourite was the bush skills session, where students learned how to safely use fire and cook their own damper, gaining a greater appreciation for the outdoors and practical survival skills. Some of the children even spotted a koala in the wild!
These activities encouraged teamwork, perseverance and confidence as students stepped outside their comfort zones and supported one another.

What a season it has been for Northside Debating!
As the 2026 QDU season draws to a close, we're taking a moment to celebrate the dedication, resilience and growth our debaters have shown all year.
Paul reminds us in Romans 12:6, "We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us." Throughout this season, our students have beautifully demonstrated that truth. Every debater has brought unique strengths to their team, whether through careful research, persuasive speaking, thoughtful rebuttal, strategic thinking or quiet encouragement behind the scenes. Together, those individual gifts have helped our teams flourish.
Our Year 8 team has performed exceptionally well, securing a place among the top 16 teams in Brisbane and progressing to Finals Round 3 this Thursday at Padua College. Year 8 students have achieved a significant milestone for the College.
Year 9 advanced to Finals Round 2, finishing in the top 32 of 156 Brisbane teams - a strong result, particularly given the demands of short-preparation debating.
Year 11 qualified for finals from a field of 156 teams and presented a well-considered case, drawing on personal experience and examples from within our own school community.
Year 7, many of whom were debating for the first time this season, also qualified for finals from a field of 180 teams. It is a promising foundation for the years ahead.
Beyond the results, what has stood out most this season is the humility, teamwork and encouragement our students have shown one another throughout the competition.
We extend our sincere thanks to our coaching team for their continued generosity and investment in these students, often well beyond school hours.
We wish our Year 8 team every success this Thursday!
