Join us for a celebration of choral music in Queensland state schools at the Choral Fanfare State Finals, held at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University on Friday 15 August.

This prestigious event features performances from the five most outstanding primary and five most outstanding secondary choirs, selected from regional events across the state. 🎼

Primary State Final – 1:00 PM
Secondary State Final – 7:00 PM

Check out the fourth in our Instrumental Series! This week I’m interviewing David Law!

David Law has conducted the QYO Wind Ensemble since 2009, after joining in 1997. He studied euphonium at Queensland University of Technology and has played piano since age eight. As Founding President and Musical Director of the Queensland Wind Orchestra, he also conducts the Queensland Youth Orchestra Wind Ensemble and has guest conducted various ensembles.

An experienced clinician and adjudicator, David works with Queensland Music Festival, Griffith University’s State Honours Ensemble Program, and regularly leads school honor bands. In musical theatre, he’s been a Music Director and Conductor, trained at the Goodspeed Institute, and led workshops for Opera Queensland. He currently heads Performance Music at Redeemer Lutheran College.

BSO is finishing our 2024 season with a celebration! In a year highlighting the connections in our community, we are rounding it off showcasing the origins of our members.

This 'Origins' program has taken us all around the world to source music, and you can expect to hear music from Spain, Indian, Scotland, Italy and Korea - just to name a few, as well as music by some of your favourite composers Beethoven, Westlake, Vaughan Williams, Bizet and Strauss.

So bring along your country's flag to wave at this exciting Proms style concert to end the year with a bang!

THE MRC TEAM

The Metropolitan Region's Music Resource Centre (MRC) is the hub of all things musical in the Metropolitan Region. This dynamic team provides support and resources to our hard working Metro music teachers. We offer professional support, after school programs, Instrumental Music Online, cluster music camps and choral festivals, as well as regional resources including the Regional Music Library. The centre is located on the grounds of Everton Park State High School. We also maintain an annex (Green Room) at Kelvin Grove for specialist programs and seminars.
