👀 What if observations really could be this simple?

We often think an observation needs a big template, lots of sections and a whole lot of writing. But observations are happening all day long. They’re the little conversations, new skills, interests, ideas and moments educators notice as they happen.

That’s where something as simple as a Kinderloop post is actually pretty powerful.

An educator can open a post while the moment is still fresh, jot down what they noticed, upload a photo straight from their device, add learning tags, categorise it with an Observation tag and choose the children and audience.

And that’s it. The observation is captured. 💛

If that moment leads to more, the post is already there to come back to and build on through assessment, planning and reflection.

Sometimes we just need to stop thinking documentation needs to be complicated and realise how much a simple post can do.

That’s the simplicity of Kinderloop.

Early Childhood Educators’ Day is coming 💛

The best ways to make educators feel appreciated don’t always need a big budget.

Sometimes it’s an extra half hour off the floor.
A message from a family.

A child telling them what they love about them.
Or simply being recognised for that special something they bring to the team.

So we’ve put together 8 simple Educators’ Day ideas that are actually doable.

Some are completely free. Some are little treats. And every one is about making your educators feel genuinely seen and valued.

Save this one for September 2 👇

1. FREE | Fill their Kinderloop with appreciation 💛

Invite families to share a photo, message or little thank you for their educators through Kinderloop. Admin can adjust the settings so each group sees the messages relevant to them.

Imagine opening your Kinderloop to a feed full of families sharing what your educators mean to them. 🥹

2. FREE | Give them time ☕

An extra long lunch. An early finish. A later start. Or 30 uninterrupted minutes with a coffee.

Ask your educators what they’d choose. Sometimes a little bit of time is the best thank you of all.

3. FREE | Ask the children 💬

Ask one simple question:
“What do you love about your educators?”

Write down exactly what they say and turn their answers into cards or a display for the team.

No polishing the answers. The funny, sweet and completely unexpected responses are what make this one so special.

4. UNDER $10 | Know their order 🍫

Their actual coffee order. Their favourite chocolate. The bakery treat they always choose.

It doesn’t need to cost much. Choosing something you know they genuinely love makes a little treat feel much more personal.

5. $10–$30 | Stock the staffroom 🍿

Fill the staffroom with the things your team actually loves.

Ask everyone for their favourite snack or treat beforehand and make sure there’s a little something for each person.

6. $20–$50 | Feed the team 🥐

Breakfast, donuts, afternoon tea, a sundae bar or whatever suits your team.

The important bit? Make sure everyone actually gets a chance to stop, sit down and enjoy it!

7. FREE | Tell them why 🌟

G O A L S
Every child has a story. Goals helps you tell it. 💙

The learning you capture every day matters.

A new friendship.
A growing confidence.
A challenge overcome.
A skill mastered.

With ‘Goals’, you can bring those meaningful moments together in one place.

Create personalised goals for each child, link the posts that support their learning, and build a richer picture of their journey over time. When it’s time to reflect, plan or share learning with families, everything is connected.

Because every post is more than a moment, it’s part of a much bigger story.

We’re so excited to see the incredible ways you’ll use Goals to celebrate children’s learning.

B L O G ✨

There’s a lot of pressure in software to release more.
More features. More updates. More announcements.
But we believe the best innovations aren’t measured by how often they’re released, they’re measured by the difference they make to the people using them.

Every feature should have a purpose. It should solve a real problem, fit naturally into your workflow and make your day just that little bit easier.

That’s why we’re thoughtful about what we build, and just as thoughtful about when we release it.

Because in early childhood education, quality will always matter more than quantity.

The Circle of Security in Early Education

The Circle of Security is a relationship framework developed by Glen Cooper, Kent Hoffman, Bert Powell and Robert Marvin. It draws on Attachment Theory, first developed by British psychiatrist and psychoanalyst John Bowlby in the 1950s and later expanded through the work of developmental psychologist Mary Ainsworth.

At the heart of meaningful relationships is the understanding that children need both a secure base from which to explore the world and a safe haven to return to when they need comfort, reassurance or support. The Circle of Security reminds us that children are constantly moving between these two needs throughout their day.

As children explore, investigate, take risks and follow their curiosity, they need caring adults to watch over them, delight in their discoveries and support their learning. When challenges arise, emotions become overwhelming, or they simply need connection, children need to know there is a trusted adult ready to welcome them back with warmth, comfort and understanding.

In early childhood settings, our role is not to direct every moment of children's play, but to be emotionally available, responsive and attuned. We can create the conditions where children feel safe enough to explore, learn, build relationships and develop confidence in themselves and others.

When children know that someone is there to support both their independence and their need for connection, they develop a strong sense of security, belonging and wellbeing. These are the foundations that support all future learning and development.

Reflection question for you and your team:
How do the children in your learning environment know that you are both a secure base for exploration and a safe haven for comfort and connection?

✨ H I N T | Observations

Hey educators 👋

Observations in Kinderloop can be quick, meaningful, and easy to capture without overcomplicating your documentation.

Simply:
• Start a post and tag your selected child or children
• Add an Observation resource tile to help draw family attention to the post
• Write your observation and capture the important learning
• Use the “Observation” learning tag to give the post a category, making it easy to filter, track, and find later
Meaningful documentation does not always need to be long or time consuming. Some of the best observations come from the everyday moments, conversations, interests, and discoveries happening naturally throughout the day ✨

Capture the learning, document the moment, and voilà your observation is ready ✔️

N E W | On the blog ✨

What if we started looking at learning a little differently?

Instead of focusing on the activity… what if we focused on the pathway of learning instead?

Children’s learning is not random. Over time, they move through learning trajectories that show how their thinking grows, deepens and becomes more complex.

When educators understand learning trajectories it becomes much easier to
• recognise meaningful learning moments
• support children’s thinking
• document learning with confidence

In our newest blog we explore understanding learning trajectories and how seeing learning this way can transform the way we observe, plan and document.

Take a moment, have a read, and see if it changes the way you notice learning in your everyday practice.

Invites: connecting families starts here

Inviting families to Kinderloop is an important step — it allows them to see what their child is enjoying, engage with posts, and stay connected to everyday learning.

By default, educators invite families, but you’re always in control of how invitations work, as we value privacy.

✉️ Invitation options

→ Educators invite families directly

→ Allow families to invite others (with your approval)

→ Enable auto-invites if that suits your service & policies

🔁 Resend invitations easily

If families haven’t accepted yet, you can resend invitations in bulk with just a click

🔍 Partner services

If you’re with one of our partners, you can also check which families have been invited, linked to their child, but not yet logged into Kinderloop

Invites help turn documentation into connection — and you stay in control at every step.

📌 Save this — a quick check that helps families feel included.
