Very limited opportunity to learn scissor making from one of the best!

Travelling out from Sheffield, England. Grace Horne has created some of the most beautiful and intricate scissors on the planet and I'm so excited to say that she will be spending a week or so sharing her talents at Eveleigh Works.

Grace will lead you through the process of creating bespoke scissors, with all the traditional techniques and intricacies. Starting with forged blanks and journeying through filing, grinding, heat treating, setting and assembly. Grace has dedicated herself to not just the craft but also the preservation of the history of scissor making and will be speaking from her wealth of knowledge in an included lecture.

This is an intermediate level course for people who have workshop or knife making experience, if you're unsure if it would be suitable for you, please get in touch and I'd be happy to discuss. A lot of you know I love learning new techniques, I did a course with Grace last year with a group of mates and I loved every second.

Please send me a DM for more information and if you are interested in joining us! Definitely not to be missed.

Look at this LEVIATHAN sculpture we built for the Parramatta Aquatic Centre!

The raw numbers speak for themselves-

Weight: 12.9 tonnes
Height: 4.6 meters
Individual Layers: Approx 750
Total steel bar length used: 2.1km
Build time: Approx 2000 hours

Built in collaboration with Cave Urban, the sculpture is a representation of the Parramatta river / Sydney harbour waterway. Each half being the north and south banks of the waterway and the negative space between constituting the river. It is constructed of hundreds of individual layers (each 12mm thick) that represent the sedimentary sandstone of the Sydney basin and bear witness to the geological timespan that shaped it.

This was a challenging project, being both physically arduous and requiring a high degree of accuracy throughout the build. The towers are both angled in 2 different planes so any deviation in early stages would have led to huge discrepancy at the full height.

I want to give a huge thanks to the EW team- for the immense work you put in!! Also to the team, , and Lachy. And finally a special thanks to Simo and Scott, and the team from infra build Rooty Hill, who donated a lot of steel for this project and gave a lot of time and effort in the transport and organising.

I was so honoured to be selected to take part in the National Blacksmiths Survey Exhibition hosted by the . Many months of hard work has gone into what is an extraordinary display of creativity and skill and I'm so appreciative to the organisers for providing a platform to share the work we, as a community, are creating.

The exhibition is a broad collection of works from blacksmiths and metal workers across the country. Taken from their website "This exhibition celebrates the craftsmanship and creativity of forged ironwork while also recognising the diversity of blacksmiths from across all states and territories. The focus is on the creative modes of contemporary blacksmithing from the technical, the expressive, the poetic and the functional."

There were so many pieces I loved, from artists I admire, and I couldn't show you them all so I decided to just give you a glimpse of the piece I submitted and implore you to explore the others yourself. The exhibition runs until the 25th of Feb.

Particular love and thanks to and for the hours of effort to bring it all together.was so honoured to be selected to take part in the National Blacksmiths Survey Exhibition hosted by the . Last week I was so lucky to get a behind the scenes tour of the historic White Bay Power station. And in exciting news, the site had been announced as the venue for the 2024 Sydney Biennale, and I for one, can't wait to see it come to life!!

It is a wonderful example of adaptive reuse and allowing community to enjoy and even direct one of Sydney's last pieces of hidden industrial architecture. At the moment it's undergoing extensive remediation works in time to have the public, but many examples of the key infrastructure and machinery will be left to tell the story of the building!!

I can't wait to see the Biennale of Sydney and how this space will evolve in the next phase of its life!

If you need more info about the Biennale or would like to be a contributor, follow the tag and head to their website!

If you've wandered down to you might have already seen Sydney's latest real estate offering "The Hermitage" created at Eveleigh Works by friends and

It has a spacious 3 meters length with a more than accommodating 2 meter diameter. Perched with some of the finest views of Eastern Sydney.

This artwork was a lot of fun to make! I particularly love the subtle, distressed, crushed look of the can, combined with Cristians hand painted label and the ever evolving patina.

Lots of hands went into making this project come to life so a huge thanks to:

Carbon steel skillets ready for the Sydney knife show!! And with a show special..

***The first 25 pans sold will come with these hand forged hanging S hooks***

Designed and handmade in Sydney, Aus. These skillets have had every detail nuanced from material selection, balance, form and style. When we designed these it was all about the little details. The copper spacer in the handle eye, the tapered handle that just sits in the palm of your hand, the hot rivets that bring it to life, the flared boss for good sturdy connection of the 2 parts, I could go on all day (and probably will at the show)...

Style aside, a big part of why we started prototyping these was I wanted something light and durable, that works equally well on an open fire as it does on an induction stove and to avoid the growing body of evidence connecting non-stick Teflon pans and long term environmental and cumulative health concerns..

Come down to the show, say hi and pick yours up while they last!!
