Dr Maria Montessori’s legacy continues….

Today is a day where we recognise women as a whole and the contribution they bring to our world. One of our very own inspirational women was Dr Maria Montessori herself. Not only was she one of Italy’s first female doctors, but she was also an innovator of a teaching method that revolutionised the field of early education, which we all love and embrace today. As well as introducing Montessori practices to the world at an early age, Maria was a strong advocate for The Women’s Rights Movement. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world. Given the year that just past, I would like to acknowledge and pay tribute to other strong women educators, leaders and role models in our community including our Montessori teachers and educators who continue to spread the light of teaching our children to be strong and confident learners.

This Sunday (30 August) there will be a 12-hour global event called Montessori Everywhere. The idea is that we celebrate Dr Montessori's birthday, challenge ourselves to do better, and connect with other Montessori parents, educators, administrators, training organisations, and anyone interested in Montessori from all around the world.

There will be amazing panel discussions, Zoom rooms to connect with others by topic or age group, and celebration hours featuring Montessori schools and children from so many parts of the globe.

On International Women's Day we are thrilled to announce that Maria Montessori was named one of the 100 Women of the Year, in TIME’s list of the most influential women of the past century. The cover was inspired by the February issue of 1930. Back then, 90 years ago, TIME chose a similar cover to honour Maria Montessori.

On International Women's Day lets celebrate Maria - advocate for children, women, peace, genius, feminist, physician, pedagogue, champion of the emancipation of human development.

These interested children participated in a special yoga session today, they were invited to explore, through asanas, stories and songs their own potential and capabilities with the intention to make each child feel in harmony with their body, mind and emotions.

It's great to see some of our children attending the Holiday Program. We missed you!
Today the children can participate in a variety of science experiments to help get their neurons firing. The Holiday Program runs until the 29th with a selection of special activities available on each day.
