Our students had a life-changing time at the Science Olympiad Summer School at the Australian National University this month. They performed well in their respective discipline's national-level exams last August to be selected for the residential summer school, where they spent 2 intense weeks in lectures, labs, field trips and more learning university-level Science. Summer school is always a place of intense learning and building lifelong friendships with liked-minded, talented and interested young people. Anthony and Wayne credit their own journeys through the Science Olympiad programs as one of the most important factors for their Science and educational development. The top students from summer school go on to represent Australia at the International Science Olympiads later this year.

Congratulations to:
Jingru Xu - Physics
Nina Namby - EES
Vicky Cui - EES
Yukai Yan - EES

Also a shoutout to:
Anthony Mai - Deputy Director of the Chemistry Olympiad program
Wayne Wong - Co-Deputy Director of the EES Olympiad program
Cathy Zhang - Mentor for the EES Olympiad program
Tanya Chi - Mentor for the EES Olympiad program

The biggest thank you to my amazing, clever, thoughtful, funny and kind Bio Class of 2025 (many students missing from the photo above)!

Thank you so so much for the sweet card and the wonderful gifts, especially the skeleton who will now watch over all of the staff and students at Atlas. It has been an absolute pleasure to have taught all of you and have you spend 2 h on your Sunday listening to me whinge and rant and occasionally teach. It is always especially meaningful to me when you make time out of your day to come visit after class has ended, and I wish I could explain how warmed I am by all your kind words and the effort you've put in to come see us and turn up to every class invested and interested. I will miss hearing your insightful questions, listening to you all groan about exams, and your occasional funny remarks about how E10 should be eaten 🫶

While a part of me wishes you could stay Year 11 and 12s forever, I know you're about to embark on new, exciting journeys and I can't wait to hear all about them!! Please keep in touch, and we hope to see you around soon! In the mean time, I will stare longingly at the nephron 😔 - Jen

To the Class of 2025,

It almost seems like yesterday when you walked through the Atlas doors for the first time. Wide-eyed 👀 and eager to learn, you dropped your first Anto-coin for the weekly ‘Would You Rather’ and found yourself in a class, unfamiliar to your surroundings, your teacher, your classmates, and even unsure of the content 🤔📚: the perfect starting point for your Atlas journey.

And now, at the end of your highschool career, you’ve now graduated! 🎓🥳🎉 Congrats! But alas, your journey is not yet over: what awaits you is your final hurdle, but you can almost taste the finish line! 🏃🏃‍♀️(imagine Anto finishing his marathon)

We hope Atlas has been able to give you more than just education: a learning community (a family, as Jen would say 🙂) where it’s okay to admit that you don’t understand! Because your teachers and friends have been with you every step of the way, even helping you last minute on the help-channels, answering every single one of your burning questions.

Trust in your countless efforts and hours in studying 💪, and keep your head held high.

GOOD LUCK! We can’t wait to see where your learning journeys take you! 🗺️

Best wishes,
The Atlas Team 💜💜

P.S. please come back and visit us anytime! In the meantime during the HSC, your teachers and the help-channels are still open!

Please take the time to read a poem commissioned by one of our very own students, Claire Li (Class of 2026)! 🤩📖

You may be wondering 🤔: what does art have anything to do with science?

Great question!

Science and Art are not merely two sides of the same coin. You don’t have to bog yourself down into thinking whether you’re a 🧪 🧬🔭 or a 🎨🖌️🎭.

We’d even argue that expressing yourself through art is as important as academics, and should be celebrated! 🥳

Atlas is not just about science tutoring (though we’re pretty good at that! 😉) We do what we do for the love of the game.

The love of learning.

We’re constantly striving towards our goal to create the ultimate community of learners and mentors coming together to support each other.

So please support your fellow learners and we hope to see you all create more wonderful things at Atlas! 💜💜
