🏆 Year 8 Soccer Showcase!
Our Year 8 boys and girls took to the pitch today in a round robin tournament against four other schools — and what a day it was!
From the first whistle to the final cheer, it was a masterclass in teamwork, collaboration, and school spirit. Students pushed hard against some tough competition, celebrated every goal like it was the World Cup, and — most importantly — filled the bus home with chants and songs that are probably still ringing in our ears.
A massive shoutout to our Year 9s Sofia and Daniel K, who stepped up as coaches and absolutely nailed it. Positions assigned, strategies locked in, team warmed up and motivated — they had it all covered. They earned the respect of every player on that pitch, and it's easy to see why.
These are the days that remind us why sport matters — not just for fitness, but for the connections, confidence, and leadership skills that last long after the final score is forgotten.
And speaking of final scores... well, let's just say we're all about the journey. 😄⚽

Year 8 Economics and Business - Humanities

Students studied what is required to be a business entrepreneur. They focused on the strengths needed and identified the traits they have to plan for a small business. Students worked independently to develop their ideas, make mistakes and troubleshoot ways to improve on them. They really enjoy this experience which was evident in their business presentations.
Well done, year 8's.

Year 9 City Experience #1 - Humanities

Our year 9 students ventured out for their first City Experience on Friday 15 May participating in the First Nations Yalinguth tour along Birrarung Marr.
They began their journey at Speakers Corner, a site that served as an open forum for free speech, political debate, and activism. They then worked in teams to answer questions about how the Kulin Nation peoples historically lived along the river as well as reflecting on the impact of the British colonisation of Melbourne.

It was wonderful to see so many students engaging in the tour, completing their workbooks and sitting quietly to listen and reflect.

Mr Lowrie and Mrs Mesquita were very proud of the respect students showed and appreciate the support of the staff in attendance. It was a truly a wonderful day with Melbourne blessing us with amazing weather. Well done, to the year 9 cohort.

Our excursion to the Melbourne Cricket Ground was a fun and interesting experience where we explored the Australian Sports Museum, participated in the interactive Game On area, and completed a tour of the stadium. During the museum visit, we saw many historical sporting items and learned about different sports and sporting events.
One interesting feature was the Australian sports library, which contained books about many different sports.
During the MCG tour, we learned many behind-the-scenes facts about how the stadium operates.
Some interesting things we discovered included the red seat marking the furthest cricket ball ever hit in the stadium, the use of UV lights to make sure the turf stays even, and how the grass is cut to different lengths depending on the sport being played. Another important thing we learned was that the MCG was originally a gathering place for the Wurrundjeri people and that it remains public land owned by the people of Victoria.
Throughout the excursion we used important workplace and personal skills such as teamwork, listening and respect. We worked together during activities, listened respectfully to the tour guides, and behaved respectfully towards others around us.
We would definitely recommend this excursion to future students because there were so many different activities to participate in and we learned about the many jobs and career opportunities involved in running a major sporting venue, including security, gardening, hospitality, cleaning and event management.

National Sorry Day excursion at the Plenty Ranges Arts & Convention Centre.
This important event provided an opportunity to acknowledge the past, reflect on truth-telling, and walk together towards reconciliation. We are grateful for the chance to learn, listen, and honour the stories and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
