🌸 Happy 2-Year Anniversary, Miss Kylie! 🌸

Today we celebrated Miss Kylie’s two amazing years at Mayfield Enoggera! 💜

Kylie is kind, nurturing and adored by children across all age groups. As our Nursery Lead Educator and Assistant Centre Manager, she brings calm, creativity and genuine care into everything she does.

Over the past two years, we’ve watched Kylie grow, learn and truly reflect the values that make our centre such a special place. The children (and all of us!) absolutely love her!

Two of our adorable Kindy friends helped us surprise her with flowers, chocolates and lots of cuddles. A sweet way to celebrate someone who gives her heart to our little Mayfield family every single day. 💕

We are so proud of you, Kylie! Here’s to many more years ahead!

🎃 Halloween Sensory Trays! 🕷️

Our children had a spook-tacular time exploring Halloween-themed sensory trays filled with coloured rice, creepy crawlies, spiders, and pumpkins! 🧙‍♀️👻 Through scooping, pouring, and sorting, the children engaged their senses while building important fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination.

Sensory play like this encourages curiosity, language development, and imaginative play as children describe what they see and feel. It also supports social skills as they share ideas and explore together. 💬✨

These Halloween trays provided the perfect mix of fun and learning — a playful way to celebrate the spooky season while supporting every child’s sensory and cognitive development! 🧡🕸️

Sometimes, we just have to say yes! 😏

After a day of heavy rain and busy little bodies eager to move, one curious Kindy voice asked, “Why can’t we just play in the rain?”

So we checked for spare clothes, put on sunscreen, took off our shoes and socks, and off we went, splashing in puddles, sliding through mud, loading up dump trucks, and laughing until our cheeks hurt.

We created core memories, built confidence, explored nature, and most of all… had the best time ever. 🌧️💦🌈

Today reminded us that some of the best learning happens when we simply say YES… to play, to curiosity, and to pure joy in the moment.

✨ Celebrating Diwali in the Nursery Room! ✨

Today our nursery children explored Diwali, the Festival of Lights, through a special sensory tray filled with colourful rice, candles, and small diya lamps. 🪔 The children loved scooping, pouring, and exploring the beautiful Diwali patterns and diya lamps while learning about this vibrant celebration. 🌈

Sensory play like this helps children develop fine motor skills and encourages curiosity, while learning about different cultures fosters respect, inclusion, and appreciation for the wonderful diversity in our world. 💛

🌟✨ Glow Party Magic! ✨🌟

Today was no ordinary day at Mayfield Enoggera – it was our Glow Party, and WOW did the children shine! From glowing accessories to dance moves that lit up the room, the centre was filled with colour, laughter, and joyful energy.

🎨 Children explored creativity through glow stick art.
🕺💃 They expressed themselves through music and movement on the dance floor.
👫 Cooperative games encouraged teamwork, turn-taking, and joyful social connections.

We loved seeing the wonder in their eyes as they explored the glowing environment and celebrated together. 💛

A big thank you to our educators for creating such a vibrant, safe, and engaging experience—and to our families for supporting the fun!

Director’s Message – July Fun at Mayfield Enoggera!

Dear Families,

What an exciting month we have ahead at Mayfield Enoggera! July is bursting with fun, learning, and community spirit – and we can’t wait to share it all with our wonderful families.

We’ll be celebrating NAIDOC Week, recognising and honouring the culture, history, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It’s a special time for reflection and connection, and we’re proud to include the children in meaningful activities throughout the week.

Farm Safety Week will help our little learners understand the importance of safety on the land, while also exploring the fun side of farm life – think animals, tractors, and hands-on learning!

Of course, we couldn’t let the winter months pass without a bit of fun – so get ready for Pyjama Day (yes, staff included!), a festive Christmas in July, and some wild styles for Crazy Hair Day! Plus, we’ll finish off the month by getting our hands dirty and giving back to nature for National Tree Day.

There’s never a dull moment here, and we’re so grateful to have your support and enthusiasm as we create lasting memories with your children. Be sure to check the calendar and keep an eye out for updates – we don’t want anyone missing out on the fun!

🎶 Clap, clap, tap! 🎵

Exploring rhythm, sound, and culture—one happy tap at a time 🪵💛

Letter recognition and writing skills. 🖊️

Learning to write is a gradual process that begins in Early childhood as they develop their fine motor skills. At first this may looks like a scribble and then they begin to draw lines and shapes which eventually will evolve into recognizable letters as they gain more control and confidence. They may begin to form words and then simple sentences.

Encouraging these activities through children’s interests and having them available for all ages helps foster these foundational skills and with patience and practice children will move from copying letters to writing with meaning and creativity.

Here, you can see the different levels of skill as some children are happily drawing circles while others are recognising and spelling their names in full.
