School Holidays at Sharz Art!

Looking for something more than just a few hours of holiday craft?

Our October School Holiday Art Program is a full day of structured, guided creative learning — with students working on multiple projects throughout the day and exploring a range of different art materials and techniques.

Constitution Hill — 5, 6 & 7 October
Emu Plains — 8 October
🕙 10am–4pm
All materials included
Students bring their own lunch, snacks and water bottle

We have programs designed specifically for:

Early Childhood — Ages 4–8
Primary — Ages 8–12
Teens — Ages 12+

From drawing and painting to sculpture, mixed media, fabric painting, charcoal, pastels and more, each age group has a carefully planned program suited to their level.

Students won't just be kept busy — they'll be learning, creating and developing real art skills throughout the day.

Spaces are limited and a minimum of 4 students is required for each workshop to proceed.

Last week in the studio, we travelled back in time to explore Dinosaurs & Prehistoric Life!

Our students explored prehistoric creatures and environments while developing their drawing skills, looking at shapes, details, texture and form.

There’s something pretty exciting about bringing dinosaurs back to life on paper — and we loved seeing the different ways our students approached the project.

Here’s a little look at some of the work from the week.

Creative Tip Tuesday ✏️

A little pencil-control tip that can make a big difference:

When you want lighter, looser marks, try holding your pencil a little further back from the tip. When you need more control and detail, move your hand closer to the tip.

It’s a simple change, but it can give you much more variety in your drawing.

Try it next time you pick up a pencil! 🎨

This week in the studio, we’re taking flight!

Our theme this week is Birds, and there are so many directions our young artists can take it.

From colourful parrots and cheeky little birds to majestic peacocks, owls and birds of their own imagination, this is a wonderful opportunity to explore shapes, feathers, patterns, colour and movement.

That’s one of the things we love about our weekly themes — they give students a starting point, but where they take their artwork is completely up to them.

Let’s see where their creativity flies this week!

A little behind the scenes at Cormack Creations...

Lately, my studio has been filled with resin, colour and a whole lot of experimenting as I get pieces ready for the Let's Go Greek Festival on Saturday 12 September.

There is something I love about working with resin. You can start with an idea, but you never quite know exactly how the colours, layers and patterns are going to come together.

Each pour has its own little surprises.

Here's a peek at some of what I've been creating behind the scenes.

If you're heading to the Greek Festival, come and have a look at what I've been making — I'd love to see you there!

Last week we explored takeaway food in the studio.

Looking back at the work, though, I'm not just seeing pizzas, burgers and chips.

I'm seeing students growing in confidence.

I'm seeing them making their own choices, trying things for themselves and becoming more comfortable with the process of creating.

Sometimes the progress is obvious.

Sometimes it's a tiny little change that only someone who sees them week after week would notice.

But those little changes matter.

And they make me very proud.

Here's a little look at some of last week's work.

Creative Tip Tuesday!

DON’T DRAW WHAT YOU THINK YOU SEE — DRAW WHAT YOU ACTUALLY SEE

When we look at something, our brain often tells us what it thinks it looks like.

A hand is a hand.
A tree is a tree.
An eye is an eye.

But when we are drawing, it helps to slow down and really look.

Look at the shapes.
Look at the spaces around the object.
Look at the lines, angles and shadows.

Sometimes the best way to improve your drawing is simply to look a little longer before you start drawing. 👀✏️

That's part of learning to see like an artist.

Building Confidence Through Creativity.

This week in the studio: Prehistoric Life!

Roars, dinosaurs, volcanoes and a whole lot of imagination!

This week our students are heading millions of years back in time to explore the world of prehistoric life. From enormous dinosaurs to flying creatures and mysterious prehistoric landscapes, there are so many possibilities to explore.

I love seeing where our students take a theme like this. One idea can turn into so many completely different artworks — because there really is no limit to where your imagination can take you.

Who wouldn't love to spend a day with the dinosaurs?
