Emerald Community Kindergarten

The Bush Kindy is a very special space for many in our local community who have long ties with Emerald Community Kindergarten. Moving forward with advice from the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority much work has been happening quietly in the background for several months to bring the reopening of this space to fruition. Shared below is an email received this morning on the progress of months of work.

Dear Emerald Kindy families,

My name is Sally Lawrence and I have been working with the Educators at Emerald Kindy this year to build their cultural capability. Thank you to the team who have been a part of this training and the enthusiasm you have brought to the learning. Uncle Darryl Black and I are looking forward to consulting with the community, families and children over the coming weeks and months to share and create a vision for the Bush Kindy site which is currently deemed unsafe by the Department of Education.

In order to get this site safe for your children, some of the elements need to be remedied based on this advice. This will include the removal of the boat and working with the eastern tree line. It’s easy to see why Emerald Kindy families treasure this site, with its existing structures providing so much opportunity to learn and explore.

With your input, we seek to enhance the site and add another layer of opportunity for learning. Underpinning Bush Kindy learning, we have the opportunity to embed the 4 elements - wind, water, fire and earth into the plantings so that your children can connect with local species, observe their life cycles and connect with ancient knowledge.

Thank you to the grant writers for securing a grant to install solar panels at Emerald Kindy. These will be installed during the Easter break and will provide significant financial benefit for the Kindy with regard to electricity payments. Well done!

Dear Emerald Community Kindergarten families,
We would like to let you know that Miss Courtney has made the decision to finish up with our Kindy at the end of Term 1 as she follows a new opportunity path. Since joining Emerald Community Kindy in 2022, she has truly captured the hearts and minds of our families and children, and we are so grateful for the care, warmth and joy she has brought to the Bilby group.
One of Miss Courtney’s favourite activities has always been Storytime, and we hope she can continue sharing her love of reading and her favourite books with many more children for years to come.
Over the next few weeks, we hope you’ll have the chance to share some of those special memories with her before we say a final goodbye and farewell.
Bilby families will be notified as soon as a new teacher is appointed.

Hi kindy families 👐🏻, we are looking for some handy parents 🧑‍🔧👩🏾‍🔧 to help us replace some internal fence panels, sometime over the next 5 days🙏🏼 (after work, or weekend). BYO rattle gun, there are 15 panels to replace. No cementing, no shovelling, or sweating required 😅.
