Eltham East Primary School (EEPS) is about our students; their learning, their welfare and their potential. l members; students, staff and parents, living by and modelling our school values of Respect, Teamwork, Learning, Resilience and Enjoyment. We value and encourage a high level of community involvement and ongoing communication between the school and home. Dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic staff use a range of innovative approaches as well as proven teaching practices to provide the very best learning environment for each child. Music, Art, Physical Education and LOTE programs operate across the school. Intensive swimming programs are conducted from Years Prep to 4 and water safety/survival programs in Years 5 and 6. Opportunities are provided for students to embrace leadership roles, such as, school captains, junior school council leader and environment and house captains. Students often lead and organize whole school social service and curricula events. We are proud of our academic record and strive to continuously improve and enhance the learning opportunities and results for our students. Eltham East Primary School hopes that everyone had a happy Father’s Day today and the lovingly made art works were well received. We also want to acknowledge father figures, and special persons in the lives of our students, and hope that today was a day spent with love and happiness.

🌱 Yesterday, the EEPS JSC and Sustainability Leaders attended the Environmental and Climate Action Conference for Kids at Edendale farm. We presented to other local schools on a topic which we are passionate about: Native Bees & Pollinator Gardens. We helped all the students make a pollinator home out of recycled materials, to take back to their schools, to promote native bee conservation 🐝 🏠. It was an inspiring day and a wonderful way to collaborate with other schools and share important Sustainability initiatives.

➕ Year 6 Maths Games Day 🧩

Today, some of our Year 6 students attended the MAV Maths Games Day, where they worked in teams of four to tackle a series of games, puzzles and problem-solving activities.

It was fantastic to see our students putting the EEPS Learner Profile into action throughout the day. They were collaborative, curious, invested and persistent as they worked together to take on some challenging mathematical problems.

Well done to all of our students who represented EEPS today!

Our Year 1 students have been exploring multiplication using balls of play dough! They created arrays to organise their equal groups and make them easier to count, practising the language of “groups of”, “rows” and “columns”. They used repeated addition and skip counting to find the totals, and even challenged themselves to write matching multiplication number sentences!

As part of their Toys in Motion unit, our Year 2 students have been researching toy inventors and discovering the stories behind some well known toys. They then used their research to create informative posters, sharing key facts and interesting discoveries.
