Since 1991, the Energy Breakthrough has provided opportunities for students, teachers, parents and local industry to work together to design and construct a vehicle, a machine or innovation in technology that will represent an β€˜energy breakthrough’.

Categories are: Junkyard Challenge, Robotics, Pushcarts, Human Powered Vehicles (HPVs), Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs). Our teams race in the HPVs section.

Go Fields!!

A great Season Launch last week with our Summer Sports Coaches.

Their professional development included hearing from members of School staff - the Head of Wellbeing, Student Values Project Lead, and Sports Department staff like the Head of Coaching & Performance.

Our coaches also received some some sport-specific development from each Head of Sport, or in the case of Tennis, from

A legend in our midst! Congratulations to Wheelers Hill Campus staff member Leeann Gill, the recipient of a (SSA) Award for Service to Schoolgirl AFLW. She is the first female to be awarded this in the field of AFL in SSA's 100-year history!

Leeann has worked in the Wheelers Hill Campus for 23 years, and coached the 16 and under (SSV) AFLW teams from 2011–2019. In her nine years as coach, the SSV teams won 8 gold and 1 silver. An incredible 71 student footballers under her tutelage and care have gone on to play AFLW at its highest level.

This year Leeann was the proud coach of the inaugural Wheelers Hills Junior AFLW team.

Although recently retiring from coaching, Leeann is still a School Nurse and continues to keep her eye on the game, taking up the role of All Australian selector and SSA Australian Football Ground Manager. Her attention to detail and care of all others around her is renown across Australia. Congrats, Leeann!

🏐πŸ₯ˆ Congratulations to our volleyballers at the Victorian Volleyball Schools Cup! πŸŽ‰ 🏐

CGS had five teams competing (Open Boys, Yr 11 Boys, Yr 11 Girls, Yr 9 Boys, and Yr 9 Girls) in this major event with over 300 teams from 35 schools battling it out on 19 courts non-stop for 5 intense days.

A special shoutout to our Yr 11 Girls, who secured an impressive silver medal, making them the 2nd best team in Victoria!πŸ₯ˆ They displayed incredible skills and determination, going undefeated throughout the tournament. Though they gave it their all in a thrilling Gold Medal match, they narrowly missed the top spot with a 3-1 result. Sue Rice, our Head of Volleyball, described it as an unforgettable match - a true testament to our growth and potential!

For our other teams, this event was a fantastic opportunity to develop their volleyball skills and confidence as they look forward to the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup in December. Despite playing 'out of season' and competing against year-round training teams, our players showed tremendous courage and resilience on the court.

Final placings for the other teams were:
Open boys 7th,
Yr 11 boys 5th,
Yr 9 girls 7th,
Yr 9 boys 9th.

The camaraderie amongst our Caulfield teams was heart-warming. When they weren't in the game, they were cheering each other on with enthusiasm and spirit!
