We made some great memories at Elmhurst PS in 2020 and I am so thankful that these students, their families and the incredible staff shared this journey with me. ❤️ Missing my Elmhurst family. ❤️

After 152 years, the bell at Elmhurst Primary School has rung one final time, signifying an emotional end of an era for the Pyrenees institution, situated just west of Avoca.

All the very best to the staff and students for 2021 and beyond! 🚸

Dear Elmhurst community,

This Friday, 18 Dec 20 at 1:00pm, we will be ringing the school bell one final time to signal not only the end of a most incredible year, but also to signify the end of an era- that of Elmhurst Primary School.
You are most welcome to join us for the final ringing of the bell at 1pm.
An offical community ceremony to celebrate Elmhurst Primary School will be held in 2021.

Elmhurst Primary School has confirmed it will close at the end of the year after a meeting of the school council on Wednesday night.
As we reported in last week’s Ararat Advocate, the school was facing the likelihood of closure, with no students enrolled for the 2021 school year.
The 152-year-old school had just three students this year.
School Council President Wess Edgar confirmed the vote had been taken on Wednesday night, but was reluctant to speak publicly until the decision was formalised.
It’s understood the vote to close the school was not unanimous.
