BYLC has been blessed to receive $25,000 from the successful application to the Australian Government Department of Education, Schools Upgrade Fund. These funds have been used to provide air purifiers in all classrooms onsite, plus extra iPads for the students. We've already had cause to be especially thankful for the air purifiers, during the recent smokey bushfire days, as well as the usual pollens and allergens in our rural environment.

After being notified of our successful application, we had an onsite visit from Senator the Hon Anthony Chisholm, the Assistant Minister for Education. We were proud to show him around our school, and his enthusiasm and encouragement for our program was sincerely appreciated.

310 years cumulative for staff - average 14+ years
40% of staff have 20+ years volunteering experience
18.5 years cumulative for student sample - average 7.4 months
13% of student sample have 1+ years volunteering experience

We look forward to sharing with you the experiences of our first group of Active Volunteering students as they graduate from the course, but in the meantime, if you are looking for something good to do over the holidays, why not volunteer? Maybe mow the neighbour’s lawn or take their dog for a walk. Reply with all the ways you could volunteer these holidays. Oh – don’t forget to vote for what Sharon should do! 😊
Kind regards
Nyesha, Reece, Lachlan, Lucy, Sam and Caleb
