Our last few days in Canberra have been absolutely jam-packed!

We’ve visited the National Capital Exhibition, explored the Australian National Botanic Gardens, and had an amazing day playing in the snow at Corin Forest ❄️☃️ definitely one of the highlights of the trip!

We also visited Parliament House, explored the National Gallery of Australia, and finished off with plenty of hands-on fun at Questacon where some of the kids were brave enough to take on the Free Fall big drop!

It’s been a very busy few days, but the kids have had an absolute ball and made plenty of wonderful memories along the way!

Day 2 in Canberra!

Today we started our adventure at the Deep Space Communication Complex, where we learned all about how Australia connects with space exploration 🚀🌌. We then headed up to the Mount Ainslie lookout for some incredible views over Canberra.

Next, we visited the Museum of Australian Democracy and explored the history of our nation’s government and democracy. For lunch, we enjoyed pizza in the park before heading off to the Australian Institute of Sport, where we got a behind-the-scenes look at elite training and facilities.

We finished the day with a relaxing afternoon tea at the beautiful National Arboretum surrounded by stunning gardens and views.

Another fantastic day of learning, exploring, and representing our schools so well. We’re looking forward to visiting Corin Forest tomorrow! ⛄️🥶

Day 1 in Canberra!

Yesterday was our first full day in Canberra, and it was certainly a cold one! ❄️ We packed plenty into the day, visiting the Australian War Memorial, the Royal Australian Mint, taking a tour of the Embassy and exploring the National Museum of Australia.

The Antarctica exhibition at the National Museum was a big hit with the kids!

Everyone has been fantastic, making the most of every experience and representing our schools wonderfully. We’re rested up and ready for another jam-packed day of exploring Canberra! 😊

🎉 100 Days of Kindergarten! 🎉

Today we celebrated a very special milestone – 100 days of Kindergarten for Meg and Taylor! 💯

To celebrate, our students and staff stepped back in time, dressing up in what we might have worn to school over 100 years ago. We were very lucky to have Wendy Loomes join us and share what school was like 70 years ago. The students loved hearing her stories and had plenty of questions to ask!

Throughout the day, we enjoyed lots of old-fashioned activities, including making bread and butter, writing on chalkboards, exploring old artefacts and playing games from the past.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate Public Education Week, reflecting on how much schooling has changed over the years while celebrating the wonderful learning experiences our public schools continue to provide today.

The kids had a fantastic day!

Congratulations, Meg and Taylor, on your first 100 days of school! We can’t wait to see what the next 100 bring! 😃

Small Schools Athletics 2026! 🏃‍♀️🏅

A big thank you to Pomona for hosting a fantastic athletics carnival. The weather held out and it was a great day of competition and fun.

Congratulations to all of our students who attended. You should be very proud of your efforts, sportsmanship and achievements throughout the day. Well done, everyone! 👏😊

Yesterday was a very special day at Palinyewah Public School as we celebrated the 60th birthday of a very special member of our school community, Jann.

Jann has dedicated so much of her time, care and passion to our little school over the years. As our K–2 teacher, she has taught every child currently attending Palinyewah and has played such an important role in shaping their learning journeys.

To celebrate this milestone birthday, we surprised Jann with a morning tea shared with students, families and staff. The day was made even more special when Jann’s parents made an appearance to help celebrate the occasion.

Thank you, Jann, for everything you do for our students, school and community. We are so grateful for your kindness, dedication and the positive impact you have on so many lives.

Happy 60th Birthday, Jann! 🎉🎂💐
