Please show your support for one of our own 🙏❤️

Tara, a single mother of four is not only currently undergoing serious cancer treatment but is now facing homelessness due to the current rental crisis.

Check out the GoFundMe page for some more insight to her story and what is going on.

For those of you who know Tara, you know what an amazing person she is and how much she has given to the club. For those of you who don’t know Tara, she has been a much loved student and instructor in Region 13, and has played a pivotal role in the growth of the region.

Whether you can donate or simply share the fundraiser, every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated 🙏❤️

Our family is facing a crisis that no one should ever have … Helen Williams needs your support for Help a Single Mum of 4 Fight Cancer & Stay housed together!

A huge congratulations to all our students who successfully moved through to their next grade level at the October grading at the Wangara Dojo on the weekend! 👏👊

Whilst at a grading students are assessed on their standard of karate, there’s other factors, attributes and qualities that are considered when a student is moved through to their next grade level.

Karate isn’t just about how well you can punch and kick, how good your stances are, or how fast or powerful you are. Everyone’s different and therefore everyone’s journey is different.

It’s about your etiquette, your attitude and your work ethic. It’s about your consistency in training, rocking up to class, putting the effort in and striving to be the best version of yourself 🫵💪

So congratulations again to all our students who took another step forward in their karate journey, for investing in your own self improvement and trying to be the best you can be. You should all be extremely proud of yourselves 🙏

In mid-June, several of our Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian senior group volunteered to complete a Homes set-up with our charity partner, RizeUp Australia.

RizeUp provides all the practical items needed for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence to make a fresh start, including furniture and other household items that help transform empty houses into homes.

When each of our GKR teams arrived at their location, they were greeted by a RizeUp driver, an empty house and a truck filled with flatpacks and homewares. The teams set about unloading the truck, assembling the flatpacks, making beds, filling pantries and carefully decorating the space. This included fitting out children’s bedrooms and providing them with the materials needed to start at a new school.

After 4+ hours of work at each location, the transformation from house to home left a lasting memory for all involved. With the knowledge that a family would be entering their newly furnished home in the coming days, each team member took comfort in knowing that they had helped create a new beginning for someone in need.

We are incredibly grateful to RizeUp for the work they do and for the opportunity to be involved in their Homes program. We also appreciate the amazing support shown by all of our students and instructors who participate in the Stop Domestic & Family Violence Purple Belt Campaign. Your involvement means a lot, not only to RizeUp and the families they help, but also to GKR Karate as a whole.

If you would like to volunteer with RizeUp to help setting up Homes, information can be found here https://www.rizeup.com.au/volunteer
