With education the way it is now, with death by powerpoint starting in preprimary in many schools, this song by Pink Floyd, released in 1979, surely is a fulfillment of prophesy. The song is mainly about children, and doesn't look at how the same effect is happening with teachers. Teachers study for four years, to now become, what is in effect, PowerPoint facilitators with none or hardly any autonomy to be creative about what and how to teach. Behavioiur problems and school refusal is at an all time high, and teachers are burnt out and leaving the profession. This is extremely concerning. There is starting to be pushback on this hedging in and besieging of our children, and it can't come quickly enough.
