This past week the Special Interest Music Centre has been performing at a variety of performances and has been gifted some outstanding opportunities thanks to a variety of donors.

On Tuesday we were gifted 20 free tickets to see the German opera "Hansel and Gretl" this was especially for German Week and performed by the State Opera Company and The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, performed at the refurbished Her Majesty's Theatre.

Students enjoyed the classic fairy tale and enjoyed the night out to learn about opera and the role of music in this art form. Patrons commented on the outstanding behaviour of our students who demonstrated the Playford Way.

On Wednesday night Big Band were the invited guest artists for the Marryatville High School Showcase at the Adelaide Town Hall. We have been so proud of the progress of our members of Big Band with a new line up and their practise and hard work. Massive thanks to Mr Moore for his direction and Mr Angus for his last minute fill in as drummer.

On Saturday we celebrated the Gawler Show. We were invited to open the Show with our new Vox Luminae SATB choir and then perform on the Community stage with the Stage Band. This was an excellent learning experience for all involved. Special thanks to our families who came to support us and to Mr Moore for all his support. Thanks especially to our students who gave up their Saturday to support such a massive community event.

Join us in Week 10 as we come together to celebrate the incredible diversity of our Playford International College community at Culture Night!

Thursday 24 September
1:35pm – 3:30pm

Get ready for an afternoon of games, soccer, food, cultural dancing, music and more. We’ll also have a raffle with prizes, raising money for ARA!

Students, families and members of our wider community are all invited to join us for the afternoon. We encourage everyone to celebrate by wearing cultural attire or something blue.

Save the date and come celebrate the cultures, people and stories that make our Playford community so special!

On Friday, our Year 10 student Ward put his vocational skills on display, giving a live barbering demonstration in the Quad in front of around 100 students and staff.

Ward, who also works as a barber in our local community, showed incredible confidence and professionalism as he worked, with plenty of students stopping by to watch, ask questions and learn more about vocational pathways.

The demonstration also helped raise awareness for the World’s Greatest Shave, which Ward has been instrumental in bringing to Playford International College this year.

It was fantastic to see our community come together to support Ward and celebrate the skills, passions and experiences our students bring beyond the classroom.

The creativity and effort on display during our Book Week Parade made choosing our winners no easy task! A huge congratulations to everyone who dressed up and brought their favourite characters to life.

Book Week has officially begun at Playford International College!

What better way to kick off our Book Week celebrations than with our fantastic Book Week Parade!

Our students and staff brought their favourite books and characters to life with some amazing costumes, creativity and plenty of school spirit. A huge thank you to everyone who got involved

And this is just the beginning! 🎉 Next week, we’ll be kicking off a whole range of Book Week activities across the College with writers workshops, scavenger hunt, guess the book and teacher/character activities and bookmark making activities!

A massive Congratulations to our students and staff for their incredible preparation and performances at last night's Playford International College Special Interest Music Centre's Annual Music Showcase, with special guests Marryatville High School.
