IT'S NATIONAL SKILLS WEEK! ๐ŸŒŸ

National Skills Week shines a spotlight on vocational education and the career opportunities it opens up. This year's theme, "Life Changing", captures exactly what we see happen for our students every day at .

Our students get real vocational training experience, discovering their strengths as capable, hands-on learners. A trade-relevant curriculum and extensive work experience program give them the chance to explore genuine career pathways well before they leave school, setting them up to be work-ready and supported into their first trade career.

This week is our chance to celebrate our students, their learning, and the skills they're building for the future ๐Ÿค

On Monday, we welcomed James Agness MP, Member for Light, to St Pat's for a tour of the College.

James met some of our full-time School Based Apprentices, who are on campus for six weeks a year to complete their SACE requirements, spending the rest of the year out working in their apprenticeship. It was a great chance to show how our students juggle both, and to share how the College model helps them stay connected and supported throughout.

Thanks for visiting, James - always great to welcome our local MPs and share what makes St Pat's tick.

Vale Michael MacFarlane.

A valued staff member of the SPTC community who served at the College from approximately 2010 to 2018, passed away on Thursday 13 August, aged 83.

Michael was a humble, caring and compassionate person who served as College Chaplain and always placed the wellbeing of students at the centre of his work. Over more than 50 years in Catholic education, Michael touched the lives of countless young people and families. St Pat's held a particularly special place in his heart, because of the unique opportunities it gave him to walk alongside young people and families who often needed that extra support. He was deeply committed to providing guidance, encouragement and practical support to the young adults entrusted to our care and their families. That care occurred quietly behind the scenes, without seeking recognition and often unseen by others, yet it made a lasting difference in the lives of those he helped.

We extend our sincere condolences to Michael's family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. May he rest in peace.

This week's College Assembly was about one thing: celebrating the growth, effort and character our students bring every day.

We recognised outstanding effort through our Semester Awards, heard from Evan Pezos on what students are telling us through Student Voice, and reflected together on embracing individuality, inspired by the life of St Carlo Acutis.

Congratulations to every award recipient. Thank you to the staff and students who make St Patrick's Technical College a place where growth, opportunity and belonging aren't just words, they're what we do every day.
