Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

💗 SHARE THE DIGNITY – DONATION UPDATE 💗

Yesterday Sophie and Kaitlyn headed down to donate all of these amazing period care products that have been generously donated by Kaitlyn, Sophie, Kerry, Brieanna and one of our wonderful centre parents! 🥹🩷

We are so grateful for every single donation. These products will go towards supporting women and girls experiencing period poverty and making sure they have access to the essentials they deserve.

We’ve also officially reached HALFWAY towards our $200 online fundraising goal! 🎉 A massive thank you to Trudy Bennett and our anonymous donor for helping us reach the halfway mark your support means so much to us. 🫶🏼

There is still time to get involved! We’ll be collecting donations until the end of August, so if you have any period care products you’d still like to contribute, please feel free to bring them into the centre.

📚✨ BOOK WEEK IS HERE! ✨📚

Get ready for a week full of stories, imagination and a little bit of magic! 💫

From Monday 24th – Friday 28th August, we’ll be celebrating Book Week at the centre, and we would LOVE for all of our children (and educators 😉) to join in the fun by dressing up as their favourite book character! 📖🧚‍♀️🦸‍♂️🐛🧙‍♀️

There’s no need to go out and buy anything special costumes can be as simple, silly or creative as you like! Whether it’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Bluey, Harry Potter, The Cat in the Hat, a Disney character, a superhero, a fairy, a Gruffalo or anything else from a story your child loves, we can’t wait to see who walks through our doors! 🥰

Children are also more than welcome to bring along their favourite book to share with their friends and educators throughout the week. 📚🤍

We can’t wait for a magical week celebrating our children’s favourite stories, characters and the joy of reading! 🌟

👖💙 Jeans for Genes Day at Goodstart Elizabeth Vale! 💙👖

Today we celebrated Jeans for Genes Day by wearing our favourite denim and shades of blue to help raise awareness and support an incredible cause! 🧬✨

Our children and educators all got involved, and together we created our beautiful Jeans for Genes sign using cut-out denim jeans. 👖💙 It was so lovely seeing everyone contribute and be part of something meaningful!

But our support doesn’t stop today! Throughout the rest of August, we’ll be taking on 100 skips a day as a fun way to keep moving, get involved and continue showing our support. 🪢💪

🖤💛❤️ Today we celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day ❤️💛🖤

Here at Goodstart Early Learning Elizabeth Vale, reconciliation isn’t something we celebrate on just one day it’s something we embed into our everyday practice. Through meaningful experiences, conversations, stories and learning opportunities, we strive to foster respect, understanding and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures every single day.

Today, we took our celebrations a little further! Our children participated in a range of engaging reconciliation experiences throughout the day, and for the very first time in our Toddler Room, we introduced calming Aboriginal music during sleep time, creating a peaceful and culturally rich environment for our little learners.

A special thank you to our wonderful Reconciliation Champion, Sophie ✨🤍, who thoughtfully planned and facilitated beautiful group times in the centre, helping our children connect with and celebrate the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Together, we continue to learn, grow and walk the journey of reconciliation one meaningful moment at a time. 🌿🖤💛❤️

🌸 We’re Supporting Share the Dignity! 🩷

This month, our centre is proudly supporting Share the Dignity, helping women, girls and everyone who menstruates access the period products they need with dignity. 💕

With many women in our community living with PCOS and endometriosis, we understand just how important access to period products is. No one should have to choose between buying essential hygiene products and other everyday necessities.

✨ How you can help:
💗 Donate online through our fundraiser page.
🩷 Bring in unopened period products to donate in person.

We will also have a donation basket at the centre throughout the month for anyone who would prefer to make a physical donation instead of donating online. Every unopened donation, big or small, will go directly to Share the Dignity to support people experiencing period poverty across Australia.

Every contribution makes a difference, and together we can help ensure that everyone has access to period care when they need it most. 🌸
