Our learning with Number Dog invited us to explore numbers in a playful and engaging way as we placed each coloured piece into the correct sequence. We observed the numbers carefully, counted aloud together, and thought about which number should come next. Looking back on how far we have come with counting and number recognition feels exciting, especially as we become more confident sharing our knowledge. Miss Ally has guided us so thoughtfully throughout the year, helping us build strong foundations in maths through hands on and meaningful learning experiences.

Our indoor plants have become an important part of our learning as Miss Anna teaches us how to care for them thoughtfully. We have been discovering that every plant is different, with some needing more sunlight and others needing extra water to thrive. Through observation and hands on care, we are building an understanding of growth, responsibility, and the importance of nurturing our environment. Caring for our First Years plants feels meaningful to us, and we love learning alongside Miss Anna as she shares her knowledge and care with us each day.

Our painting experience unfolded through independent exploration as we focused closely on how each brushstroke felt. We experimented with moving the brush in different directions, noticing how changing our movements created different marks, textures, and sensations on the page. The experience encouraged us to slow down and engage with the process itself, observing the relationship between our hands, the brush, and the paint. Through this kind of open ended exploration, creativity became something we could physically feel and investigate in our own way.

The First Years shop was absolutely buzzing as more and more customers joined the line. We explored different shop roles, serving each other, handling purchases, and keeping the shop running through our imaginative play. Our cashier had everyone laughing when she playfully rested her head after being “so busy at work,” while still smiling the entire time. The joy, conversations, and creativity flowing through the shop made the whole experience feel energetic, playful, and full of connection.

Our bubble play with Miss Zi brought so much excitement as we learnt how to create bubbles ourselves. We watched closely as they floated into the air, following their movement and waiting for the perfect moment to pop them. Some drifted high above us while others floated gently nearby, keeping us engaged and curious throughout the experience. There was so much laughter and wonder as we explored movement, air, and cause and effect through playful discovery.

Working together on our number puzzle gave us the opportunity to explore numbers through hands on learning and shared problem solving. We took turns placing pieces into the correct spaces, paying close attention to the numbers and how they matched the board. As we collaborated, we listened to each other’s ideas and celebrated when the pieces clicked into place. The activity created a calm and connected learning environment where we could build confidence with numbers while supporting one another.

Reading time with Miss Anna became a big adventure as we explored a scary monster story together. We listened closely, searched through the pages, and tried to work out where the monster could be hiding, becoming completely engaged in the mystery. There were moments of excitement, suspense, and lots of laughter as we reacted to the story and shared our ideas with each other. When we finally discovered there was no monster at all, we couldn’t believe the trick had worked so well. Miss Anna’s storytelling kept us captivated from beginning to end, making reading feel interactive, imaginative, and full of emotion.

Our dance incursion with Miss Georgie was full of movement, laughter, and animal impressions as we explored different ways to move our bodies. We waddled like ducks, jumped like frogs, and brought all kinds of favourite animals to life through dance and imagination. As we watched each other’s movements, we laughed together and became even more confident joining in and expressing ourselves. Miss Georgie encouraged us to fully immerse ourselves in the experience, creating a joyful environment where creativity, physical movement, and connection all came together.
