🌟STUDENT PROFILE: SCOTT HUMPHREYS 👷
Recently, the Civil Train team went to visit Western Downs Civil to meet Scott Humphreys; a student who had recently graduated with a double diploma completed in less than 3 months (usually time is 12 months per diploma).
We wanted to celebrate this achievement with Scott and the WDC team and learn more about the benefits of training they have experienced.

We are making our way across regional Queensland, starting in Emerald, before moving through Rockhampton and Bundaberg, then travelling down through Hervey Bay and the Sunshine Coast.

We will be visiting active projects and offices of selected Civil Train clients and meeting students on site.

From the moment Sam spoke with Rob, his passion for training and developing his employees really stood out. Rob’s view is simple: not enough people are willing to give young people a chance. However, with the right opportunity, training and support, they have so much potential.

This week, the Civil Train team visited Western Downs Civil (WDC) in Chinchilla and what a great opportunity to celebrate their recent success!

WDC were recently recognised with the Outstanding Commitment to Training and Development (Employer) Award at the Civil Contractors Federation - Queensland Excellence in Civil Construction Awards.

From a small three-man, two-vehicle operation, WDC has grown into a leading regional civil contractor with more than 200 employees and their commitment to developing their people has grown right alongside them.

Our Trainer, Neil, and Workforce Training Coordinator, Samantha, spent time on site working closely with the WDC team training students, reviewing and updating training plans, assessing training needs and, most importantly, continuing the conversation about how we can best support their workforce.

Our collaboration with WDC is ongoing. We’re constantly working together to make sure their training is relevant, effective and aligned with the skills their people and business need to succeed.

Congratulations again to the entire WDC team on this well-deserved recognition! We’re proud to be part of the journey and look forward to continuing to support the development of their people.

Civil Train attended the first yourtown Youth Employment Expo last Wednesday, 29 July.

The expo saw over 200 attendees and created valuable opportunities for young people to connect with employers, training providers, and support services.

We were grateful to be part of an event that helped the next generation take their first steps toward employment, education, and training.
