Today we received a delivery of new blazers for students to use when they are representing the school at major events. These will be loaned to students as needed. Cruz will be the first to wear one when he represents St Bennie's at Diocesan Public Speaking soon, so he got to try one on for size today! Looking good, Cruz!
(It will look even better on the day when he has his academic uniform on!)

We are very proud of Mr Hassett!

Congratulations to Sean Hassett on achieving Lead Teacher accreditation through the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA). Having attained Highly Accomplished Teacher certification in 2024, Sean has now reached the highest level of voluntary teacher accreditation. This prestigious achievement recognises his outstanding expertise as an educator, his commitment to excellence, and his significant contribution to teaching and learning within both his school and the wider diocesan community.

As Assistant Principal St Benedict's Primary School, Edgeworth, Sean has played a pivotal role in leading curriculum improvement initiatives within his school. Working alongside the Pedagogical Mentor, he has successfully led the Mathematics project, guiding the implementation of the new syllabus with confidence, clarity, and a strong focus on student outcomes. His collaborative approach to planning and programming has strengthened teacher capability and fostered a culture of continuous professional growth.

Sean's influence extends beyond his own school. He is highly regarded for his willingness to collaborate with colleagues across the diocese, generously sharing his expertise and supporting the professional learning of others. He led the implementation of a writing assessment tool within his school and subsequently shared both the platform and the implementation process with other interested schools, helping to build capacity across the system.

A strong advocate for professional learning and reflective practice, Sean has also been instrumental in establishing and coordinating the Mathematics coaching cycle at St Benedict's. Through classroom observations, professional dialogue, and constructive feedback processes, he has created opportunities for teachers to learn from one another, refine their practice, and celebrate their collective expertise. This collaborative approach has further strengthened staff capability and enhanced professional learning across the school.

Sean's leadership is also evident in his use of data to inform teaching and learning. Towards the end of each term, he facilitates staff analysis of student wellbeing, academic achievement, and PB4L data. These collaborative discussions enable staff to identify priorities and set targeted goals for the following term, ensuring that teaching, learning, and assessment practices remain responsive to the diverse academic and wellbeing needs of all students.

Sean's achievement as a Lead Teacher reflects not only his professional expertise but also his dedication to empowering colleagues, improving student outcomes, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. We extend our sincere gratitude to Principal Danielle Reed and the staff of St Benedict's for their support throughout this accreditation journey.

We look forward to seeing Sean continue to inspire others through his leadership and make a lasting contribution to his school community, the Diocese, and the teaching profession.

Congratulations, Sean, on this outstanding achievement.
