Starting childcare can be a big step for little ones! 💕

That’s why we offer FREE Stay & Play sessions to help your child settle in before their first day. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet their Educators, explore the learning environment, and build confidence through familiar faces and new friendships.

💙🛏️ National Pyjama Day 2026 🛏️💙

Today our Centre got into the spirit of National Pyjama Day by swapping our everyday clothes for our cosiest pyjamas! 😊

A huge thank you to all our families, children and educators who participated and generously donated to our Pyjama Day fundraiser. Your support helps make a real difference in the lives of children living in foster care.

There’s still time to donate if you would like to support this wonderful cause. Every contribution helps provide vital resources and opportunities for children who need them most. Donate at this link: https://fundraise.thepyjamafoundation.com/fundraisers/edgewaterpjteam

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

💛 Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.

Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.

Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.

✨ Yesterday was filled with joy, music, and storytelling magic at Goodstart Early Learning Edgewater! ✨

We were delighted to welcome Heather from Joondalup Libraries who spent time with our Nursery, Toddler, and Kindy children. Heather brought stories to life through engaging book reading, singing, and interactive experiences that truly captured the children’s imaginations.
The children especially loved the scarf play and puppets, which made the storytelling even more exciting and meaningful. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, laughter, and active participation throughout the session.

Thank you, Heather and Joondalup Libraries, for such a fun and enriching visit — we can’t wait to welcome you back again! 📚💛

🌱 Our Little Veggie Garden is Growing! 🌱
Our toddlers have been busy nurturing our garden, and they were so excited to harvest some of our fresh herbs to share with our cook to add to our meals! 🥬✨
Gardening is such a meaningful experience for young children. It supports:
🌿 Hands-on learning – children explore how things grow and develop an understanding of nature
🌿 Responsibility and care – nurturing plants teaches patience and responsibility
🌿 Healthy habits – children are more likely to try and enjoy fresh, healthy foods they’ve grown themselves
🌿 Sensory development – digging, planting, and smelling herbs engages all the senses
🌿 Confidence and pride – there’s nothing like the joy of harvesting something you’ve grown!
We love seeing our children connect with nature and take pride in contributing to their meals 💚
