BENEDICT FEAST DAY 💛💛💛

Happy Feast Day to our Benedict House community!

This morning, our Benedict House students and staff marked the occasion with a morning Mass in the Mercy Resource Centre and later enjoyed lunch together in the sunshine.

Today, we celebrate our Benedict House Patron, Saint Benedict of Nursia— the Patron Saint of Europe.

Born in Italy, Saint Benedict chose a life of simplicity and devotion, dedicating himself to prayer, work and quiet reflection.

Honoured as a Doctor of the Church, his influence has shaped generations through his wisdom and way of life.

Saint Benedict's example reminds us to live with purpose and faith, and to seek balance in our daily lives through work, prayer and learning.

NAIDOC WEEK 2026 ❤️🖤💛

NAIDOC Week was celebrated across the College last week, honouring the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In the Library, students created a tree of reconciliation using cutouts of their own handprints.

They added messages, drawings and reflections about what reconciliation means to them, creating a meaningful display for our College community.

It was wonderful to see students taking the time to connect, learn from one another and contribute thoughtfully to the week.

Year 9 Visual Arts students were treated to a guided tour of the NAIDOC week exhibition at the Creative Edge Art Studio.

The Year 9 Painters Studio Class attended a guided tour of the Creative Edge Art Collective 2026 NAIDOC Week Exhibition.

Emily (Possum) Rose, an exhibiting artist, guided the students through the stories, symbolism and media techniques of the many artists exhibiting this year.

The Treetop Cafe featured many native ingredients in its menu, and our Year 11 Hospitality students had the privilege of welcoming Dale Tilbrook to their class to learn from her extensive knowledge of Australian native bush foods.

A TASTE OF COUNTRY 🖤💛❤️

Yesterday our Year 11 Certificate II in Hospitality students had the privilege of welcoming Dale Tilbrook to their class to celebrate NAIDOC week, which fell during the school holidays.

Dale shared her extensive knowledge of Australian native bush foods, introducing students to a range of traditional ingredients and explaining their cultural significance, seasonal availability and culinary uses.

Students had the opportunity to smell, taste and learn about native herbs, spices and fruits while gaining a deeper appreciation of Aboriginal knowledge, sustainable food practices and the connection between food and Country.

A huge thank you to Dale for sharing her passion, knowledge and culture with our students.
