Last weekend two of our students, Raine and Kendra, participated in MUNA 2026 - the Model United Nations Assembly - in Canberra.
It was a huge weekend for these students who were one of 22 teams (more than 60 students) from across Australia who came together to debate 6 UN (United Nations) resolutions. Our students represented the country of Afghanistan with fervour, conviction and passion and held their own against some very experienced teams. The event was held at the Museum of Australian Democracy (Old Parliament House) in Canberra, and the opportunity to spend two days debating motions in the House of Representatives Chamber was a very special experience. The students all stayed at the same accommodation, enjoying all meals together across the weekend including a formal dinner on Saturday night with a special guest speaker - Janice Rodrigues, the Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations. Thanks to our students who did an incredible job representing EHMS (and the country of Afghanistan!), to our local Merimbula and Pambula Rotary Clubs for sponsoring our students to attend and to the Rotary Club of Canberra Sunrise for hosting this fantastic event.
