🏐 State Netball Runners-Up and Champions in Spirit! ✨

Our Intermediate Boys hit the road at 5.30am for the State Netball Championships in Melbourne on Monday – but the early start was well worth it!

Demonstrating incredible effort, enthusiasm and determination, the boys won all three of their pool games before defeating a strong Vermont squad in the Semi Final to earn their place in the State Grand Final.

In a hard-fought final, the boys fell just five points short against a strong Wodonga Catholic College team, finishing 2nd overall in the state – an outstanding achievement!

Congratulations to Will H, Macklan D, Toby P, Harry S, Henry B, Kai R, Arli W, Taj M and Levi W on an incredible day of netball.

But that wasn’t the only thing to celebrate. The boys were also awarded the School Spirit Award for their respect, sportsmanship and positive attitude throughout the day – a fantastic reflection of the way they represented St Joseph’s.

Congratulations, boys! We’re incredibly proud of you. 👏🏐

As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing and safety, Year 7 and Year 9 students will take part in education sessions on va**ng and cyber safety on Tuesday 1 September.

We’re also opening these conversations up to our wider College community with a FREE Parent Information Session for parents and carers of students in Years 7–12.

The session will provide practical information to help families navigate conversations around va**ng and online safety, building on the topics explored with students during the day.

📅 Tuesday 1 September 2026
⏰ 5.00pm
📍 Brigidine Hall, 21 Dickson Street, Echuca

The session will cover key issues including the harms and laws surrounding va**ng, strategies for building confidence to say no, and keeping young people safe online.

All Years 7–12 parents and carers are welcome to attend.

We encourage families to take this opportunity to learn, ask questions and strengthen the conversations we have with our young people about their safety and wellbeing.

Our Voice, Our Future 🌿

This week, we are delighted to welcome members of the wider Kildare Ministries community to Echuca for the 2026 Kildare Ministries Conference.

The conference began yesterday with a beautiful Smoking Ceremony and song from our St Joseph’s College Choir, providing a meaningful welcome to guests arriving from across Kildare Ministries.

Held from 26–28 August, the biennial conference brings together leaders from Kildare Ministries schools and community works, along with Boards, Trustees and Members, for a time of reflection, learning, conversation and connection.

This year’s theme, Our Voice, Our Future – Listening. Responding. Transforming Together. - invites us to listen deeply, consider how we respond to the opportunities and challenges before us, and reflect on how we can continue the mission entrusted to Kildare Ministries with courage and hope.

We are proud to host this important gathering at St Joseph’s College and to share our community with colleagues from across the Kildare Ministries family.

Learning Beyond the Classroom 🌏

Our Year 10 Geography students recently visited Fosterville Gold Mine to explore how mining can change and impact the environment.

During the visit, students learned about the impacts of mining on land and water and had the opportunity to speak with professionals working across a range of mining fields.

These conversations provided valuable real-world insights and helped students apply their learning as they finalise their assessment on environmental change.

It was a great opportunity to see the connection between geography, industry and the environment in action, bringing their classroom learning to life.

Wellbeing & Pastoral Care is at the heart of who we are at St Joseph’s College.

For 140 years it’s been embedded in everything we do.

We:
• Foster safety, belonging and respect
• Celebrate diversity
• Build positive relationships
• Empower students to grow academically, emotionally, physically and spiritually

As part of our Wellbeing Framework we work from the The Berry Street Education Model and The Resilience Project Wellbeing Program.

These research-based approaches are designed to inform and guide our classroom practices, student learning and student engagement, by putting each child’s learning and wellbeing needs at the forefront.

In this way we’re able to create a space for every child to be known, loved, nurtured, celebrated, to feel a strong sense of belonging, and to reach their full potential.

🏐 Netball Victoria School Championships

What a fantastic day in Bendigo last week, with seven St Joseph’s College teams taking to the court at the Netball Victoria School Championships, supported by eight of our student umpires.

With four Junior teams, two Intermediate teams and a Senior team competing, it was a wonderful opportunity for so many of our students to represent their College, play alongside their friends and experience the excitement of school netball.

Our teams took on strong opposition throughout the day, showing great determination, teamwork and sportsmanship.

A special congratulations to our Intermediate Pink team, who finished top of their pool and have secured their place in the next round later this term!

We’re incredibly proud of all our players, coaches and student umpires who contributed to a great day of competition and represented St Joseph’s with pride.
