Eastwood Early Learning Centre and Kindergarten is participating in the Pre-Prep Longitudinal study with the University of Melbourne. This study is about the benefits of Pre-Prep for children and families. We are currently asking families with children enrolled in our 4-year-old kindergarten (Pre-Prep program) to join this important study. Kinder 3 & 4's School Holiday Program. 7th -17th April 🌱✨

Kinder 4 have recently started a fairy garden project in the garden/bike track area.
This will be an ongoing project in the next few weeks as they add and continue to construct it using children's ideas to create a calm, explorative space outside inspired by Walker Learning.
They are looking for donations to add to their fairy garden.
If anyone has any cuttings of plants, old fairy or garden ornaments, rocks (river/ pebble) or anything that would be fitting, please get in contact with us.

'More than just a garden' - here is a snapshot of how our service philosophy is present in our garden....

Eastwood Early Learning Centre and Kindergarten are proud members of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation. Our kitchen and garden program beautifully supports the five learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework. Through exposure to the kitchen and garden, babies, toddlers, and Kinder children are building a strong sense of identity, becoming connected to their world, building on their sense of wellbeing, becoming confident and involved learners, and are becoming effective communicators.

Our service philosophy values the natural environment, and allows children many opportunities to engage in learning in the garden and outdoor spaces.

Our bush tucker garden symbolises children's meaningful knowledge of Indigenous culture. The sunflowers were planted by a group of Kinder 4 children and a Kinder 4 parent and they represent the way we partner with families. The fruit and vegetables are evidence of how children have been involved in a plant's full life cycle - from seed to plate and the learning opportunities that have come from a task as 'simple' as watching a seed grow. The children now get to choose whether they will eat those apples from the tree at morning tea, or choose cherry tomatoes from the garden, empowering children to make healthy choices.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our wonderful families who generously donated gifts to the Salvation Army Wishing Tree Appeal. Your kindness and support have helped make a real difference for families and children in need this Christmas.

Being part of this special cause has also been a meaningful learning experience for our children. Through giving, they are learning about generosity, empathy, and the true spirit of Christmas - caring for others and sharing what we have with those who may be less fortunate.

Thank you for helping us spread kindness and joy within our community this festive season. 🎁✨
