Monty has been busy helping us welcome the new season at Greenhills!

First, he supervised our colourful spring window decorations. Then he stopped to enjoy the beautiful jasmine before lending a paw in the garden. We’re not entirely certain how much digging he actually completed—but he looked very convincing with the trowel! 😂🐭

Spring is a wonderful time for children to head outdoors, notice the changes happening around them and ask questions about plants, insects and the world they see.

🔍 FREE ASSESSMENT FAQ

How do we choose a starting point for tutoring?

We don’t simply begin with work based on a child’s school year. Our free assessment helps us understand what they can already do confidently and where gaps may be making learning more difficult.

We use the results to:

🔹 Assess their current skills
🔹 Identify strengths and learning gaps
🔹 Choose the skills that need attention first
🔹 Build a program around what they need now

For literacy, this may include reading age, comprehension age, spelling level, spelling-rule knowledge and phonemic skills. For maths, we look at their understanding across the relevant areas and identify where difficulties begin.

The goal is to find a starting point that builds confidence while still helping the student move forward.

Assessments are free and can be completed online or at one of our centres. Parents receive the results and our recommendations for the next steps.

Indigenous Literacy Day is a national celebration of First Nations stories, cultures and languages. This year’s theme, Country Is Our Teacher, reminds us of the knowledge, stories and languages shared through connection to Country and Community.

Today is an opportunity to listen, learn and celebrate the voices of First Nations children, Elders, authors, artists and storytellers.

A new season brings fresh beginnings, new growth and plenty of opportunities to discover something new.

Monty is starting spring by helping his little seedling grow—with a good book nearby, of course! Just like plants, learning grows gradually with time, encouragement and plenty of practice. 🌱📚

📚 BOOK WEEK WRAP-UP! 📚

Book Week may be over, but the wonderful stories don’t have to end!

Monty has had a very busy week of reading—beginning with dragons and finishing with plenty of Dog Man mischief. 🐭💙

Book Week is a lovely opportunity for children to celebrate the stories, characters and authors they enjoy. It can also help them discover something completely new to read.
