ial. ABOUT THE SCHOOL
East Devonport Primary School is located in Thomas Street East Devonport. Built in 1915 all classrooms have interactive whiteboards and computers. We have an administration block, library, gymnasium and multipurpose facility, with fully functional kitchen for school and community use. The grounds include extensive grass areas, oval, netball/basketball courts and multiple designated play areas. Our staff are professional, experienced, skilled and committed to students learning. School caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 who are generally friendly, courteous and eager to learn. Students wear our uniform with pride and enthusiastically participate in all aspects of school life. Like staff, our parents want the children to be safe, happy, challenged and successful. Hello! My name is Mrs Jess Blackwell, I am feeling very lucky to be joining the East Devonport Primary School community as Instructional Specialist. I have worked in DECYP for 20 years – as Instructional specialist, literacy support, LiL and classroom teacher.

I pride myself on getting to know staff, students and the parents in a school and working together to support students learning. Over the last few years there have been a lot of changes with the way we teach literacy, and I continue to grow and learn, just like your children.

Outside of school, I fill my time with my family – my husband and two primary school aged children. We spend our time at various sports, including basketball, football and netball and are keen Jack Jumper and Jewels supporters.

Thankyou to everyone who I have met so far, for making me feel so welcomed. I look forward to a year filled with lots of learning and fun!
