🚨 Emergency Drill Week 🚨

This week, we have been practising our emergency procedures. The children and educators worked together to follow instructions, move safely and practise what to do in an emergency. ❤️

Everyone did a great job at listening, staying together and helping to keep us all safe!

"Here?” asked Miss 2.
“No.” ❤️ replied Miss 3.

And so the conversation continued… until, together, the puzzle was complete. 🧩✨

A beautiful little moment of friendship, patience and learning from one another.

Reducing, Reusing, Recycling ♻️

The children participated in a sustainability experience by repurposing recycled milk bottles into watering cans for our edible garden. Using real tools, including a hammer and nail, they carefully made small holes in the lids before filling their watering cans with rainwater collected in the centre's water tank via the water pump.

By using real tools, repurposing recycled materials, and caring for the edible garden alongside educators, the children developed new skills and a deeper understanding of sustainability through active participation. 🙌

The children have been travelling around the world. Last week, to finish off our Egyptian adventure, we had lots of fun with Mummy Races! The children worked together to wrap one another in toilet paper and then raced across the garden. There was plenty of laughter, excitement and teamwork as the children tried to keep their “bandages” intact!

Our friends love getting hands-on in the sandpit with real pots, pans and utensils! This simple, imaginative play encourages creativity, language, social skills and problem-solving, while building confidence, coordination and independence.
Through cooking, sharing and pretending, children are learning through play, developing valuable life skills and, most importantly, having lots of fun along the way!

As an extension of our Environment Project and following Aunty Michelle’s visit where she shared her knowledge of the ways Aboriginal Peoples have traditionally cared for and connected with Country, the children made their own traditional Aboriginal gunyahs. They used natural materials including bark, sticks, grass, leaves and clay and became young structural engineers, designing and constructing their gunyahs. This experience can be connected to the work of Dr Tyson Yunkaporta, and Aboriginal scholar and educator who emphasises the importance of learning through connecting, relationships, Country, culture and practical experience.

A little celebration of what makes Jayde so special to our community. 💛
Our children shared their appreciation through beautiful drawings, while families added heartfelt words to our scrapbook about why Jayde is so special to them. Together, these create a beautiful reflection of connection, belonging and the special relationships we share. 🌿✨

😂 “Yeah nah, I’ll just hold it.”
🚽 The bladder: “Yeah nah.”

And suddenly… GOTTA GO! 🏃💨

Funny? Yep. But there’s an important conversation behind it.

This Friday, our Interoception & Toileting Lunch & Learn explores the neuroscience of urge awareness and its dynamic, multifactorial nature — including practical strategies for assessing children’s toileting urge awareness and building body awareness to cue toileting participation.

We’ll also cover tools for recording change over time, with time for Q&A.

Our children were so excited to respond to a special friend’s letter! 💌 Two friends helped write a note, while everyone added their own special drawings, before popping it into the post!❤️🎨
It’s a beautiful way to maintain connections and nurture friendships, even when we’re no longer living in the same community.
