Eagleby Learning Centre

The Eagleby Learning Centre (ELC) was opened over 25 years ago with a focus on various short courses for the local community for both school aged students and adults. Seven years ago the model was significantly changed to meet the growing need of disengaged youth in the community. ELC now aligns with State High Schools and has grown rapidly ever since. ELC is the South East Region's Learning Centres (SERLC) biggest and most established campus and is the location of the “Head Office” for SERLC. Being the biggest and most established ELC offers the widest range of year 10 and Senior subjects as well as numerous Certificate courses. SERLC is also a mature aged school so Adults can enrol (* fees and conditions apply). Varsity Lakes Learning Centre

The Varsity Learning Centre (VLC) was opened in July 2015 and is the second campus of the SERLC to be opened. It is modelled on ELC and has experienced rapid growth during this time. This campus offers a full range of subjects for Year 10 through to 12. Because VLC is a campus of SERLC it is eligible for a mature aged school so Adults can enrol (* fees and conditions apply). Helensvale Learning Centre

Helensvale Learning Centre (HLC) is the third campus of the SERLC and has come about due to the success of the other two campuses and the growing need for an alternative avenue for students to obtain their year 10 and senior education in the State Education system. HLC offers the Northern Gold Coast region the opportunity of an alternative State High Education. Because HLC is a campus of the SERLC it is eligible for a mature aged school so Adults can enrol (* fees and conditions apply).

VLC’s Open Day was a fantastic success, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase our programs and the positive impact we have within the community. We welcomed a strong number of visitors, who engaged with staff, explored our facilities, and learned more about the opportunities available through VLC. The enthusiasm and positive feedback received from our potential new families reflected the value of the event.

VLC were delighted to welcome Dr Ryan Shiels, Research Analyst from the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS) at The University of Queensland, to speak with our UniStart students. Dr Shiels shared insights into his research journey and provided valuable guidance on scientific and academic writing, helping students build confidence in their own studies and career aspirations. His engaging presentation encouraged enthusiastic discussion, and students greatly benefited from the opportunity to learn from an experienced researcher and academic professional.
Our UniStart program is available to students who wish to pursue a university pathway, if this is you, have a chat with your Dean of Students or your Head of Campus for more information!

Community & Youth Expo 💜
Last Thursday, ELC held our Community & Youth Expo, with some fantastic community services joining us to showcase the support, opportunities and services available to our young people.
Our students enjoyed connecting with the services, having a chat, and of course, enjoying a delicious BBQ lunch!
A huge thank you to our wonderful community partners for taking the time to come along, connect with our students and support our young people.
We are so grateful for a community that continues to show up for our students! 💜
Together, we can make a difference.
