Hey, look!!👀😎😍 Our Little Artist!
Following the children’s current stage of cognitive development, the sensorimotor stage, where learning occurs through hands-on sensory exploration, a small group painting experience was provided using the primary colours: blue, red, and yellow.
The children eagerly explored the paint through their senses, noticing how the colours transformed as they mixed them together. As they combined the primary colours to create new ones, they discovered secondary colours through active experimentation and inquiry. This hands-on process supported their cognitive development, strengthened early problem-solving skills, and fostered curiosity about cause and effect.
Throughout the experience, the children also demonstrated emerging social-emotional skills. They shared brushes and paint, took turns accessing materials, and worked cooperatively within the shared space. These interactions reflected developing abilities in turn-taking, communication, collaboration, and respect for others.
This experience not only encouraged creative expression but also nurtured early scientific thinking and positive peer relationships.
