Coffee on Us! ☕

On Monday morning, we treated our wonderful families to a coffee on us here at the centre! ✨

We had an assortment of iced coffees and hot coffee options available for our families to choose from. Whether you prefer something warm to start your morning or a refreshing, iced coffee, there’ll was something for everyone! 🤎

It’s a small way for us to say thank you for being such an important part of our journey community.

We hope our families enjoyed their coffee and a little treat to start their morning. We truly appreciate having you and your family as part of our centre community. 💛

🌟 Meet Issy 🌟

Issy is our Lead Educator for our Kindy/ Toddler classroom for children 2 to 3 years of age here at Journey Durack Heights.

Issy began her journey in Early Childhood Education and Care at just 17 years old and has now been working in the sector for five years. During this time, she has completed her Certificate III and Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and has gained valuable experience stepping into various leaderships roles throughout her career to date.

Issy loves working with children because she enjoys watching them grow, learn and develop into confident and independent little people. Being part of their early years and watching their individual personalities develop is something she finds incredibly rewarding.

🎣 Fun Fact: Outside of the centre, Issy loves fishing! She spends lots of her free time out on the water and even participates in fishing competitions.

🎨 Painting & Sensory Exploration 🎨

Our preschool children enjoyed the opportunity to explore open-ended painting, discovering colour, texture and movement through their senses.

With no set outcome, the children were encouraged to experiment freely feeling the paint, mixing colours, making different marks and discovering how the materials changed as they explored. 🌈🖌️

Sensory painting supports creativity, self-expression, fine motor development and curiosity, while giving children the opportunity to learn through hands-on discovery.

Sometimes the most meaningful learning happens when children are simply given the time, space and freedom to explore. 💛

📚✨ Book Week Dress-Up Day! ✨📚

What a wonderful way to celebrate our love of books! 💕 On Monday, the children came dressed as their favourite book characters and brought along their favourite books to read, explore and share with their friends.

We loved seeing everyone's creative costumes and watching the children show of their costumes. 📖🥰

A big thank you to our families for helping make the day so magical! 🌟

🎨 Magic Milk Experiment - in action! 🥛

Our little scientists in N2 had so much fun exploring our Magic Milk Experiment for National Science week! 🧪

They used milk, colourful food dyes and a little dish soap to create amazing swirling patterns. The children watched in excitement as the colours moved and mixed across the milk. 🌈

This was a great opportunity for the children to make predictions, observe changes, ask questions and explore cause and effect through hands-on learning.

We love seeing our little scientists’ curiosity in action!💡

🧪🌈 Science Week: Magic Milk Experiment! 🌈🧪

To celebrate Science Week, our little scientists got hands-on with a fun and colourful Magic Milk Experiment! 🥛🔬

The children explored what happened when we combined milk, colourful food dyes and dish soap. Using cotton swabs dipped in dish soap, they watched in amazement as the colours began to swirl, move and dance across the milk. 🎨✨

This simple experiment encouraged the children to make predictions, observe changes, ask questions and explore cause and effect through hands-on learning.

There were plenty of “Wow!” moments, curiosity and discovery as our little scientists investigated the magic happening right before their eyes! 💛🧪

Meet Steph! 🌟

Steph completed her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care last year and also holds a bachelor’s degree in Primary School Teaching in New Zealand. Before moving into early childhood, Steph taught in a primary school for four years, working closely with younger learners. 📚✨

Steph is currently working in our Kindy/Toddler room with children aged 2–3 years, where she loves supporting children as they explore, learn and grow.

Steph loves working with children because she enjoys seeing their excitement throughout every part of their day from watching their personalities shine, to seeing the excitement when they learn something new, and even the joy they experience when they see a familiar face. 🥰

🌏 Fun fact about Steph: She was born in New Zealand and has lived in five different countries! She spent most of her childhood in South Africa, where she also went to school. 🇿🇦

🌿 The Power of Outdoor Loose Parts 🌿

Here at Journey Durack Heights, we have a wonderful array of outdoor loose parts that provide endless opportunities for creativity, exploration and learning! 🪵

From tyres, PVC pipes and wooden stumps to crates and plastic spools, our children are encouraged to use these resources in their own unique ways. One day they might become an obstacle course, the next a construction site, a shop or part of an imaginative adventure!

Our loose parts encourage children to problem-solve, collaborate, create, build and use their imaginations, while also developing balance, coordination, strength and confidence. 🌱

We love seeing where our children's ideas and imaginations take them when they are given the freedom to create! ❤️

🌳🛝 Preschool Playground Visit 🌈☀️

Our Preschool children enjoyed a visit to the local playground, where they had the opportunity to explore the outdoor environment, engage in active play and enjoy time together. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ The children had lots of fun climbing, balancing, running and exploring the different areas of the playground. 🧗‍♀️⚖️ It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to enjoy outdoor play in a new environment. 💚🌿

Visiting the park provides children with opportunities to develop their physical skills through running, climbing, balancing and exploring. 💪🧗‍♂️ It encourages confidence, independence and safe risk-taking as children navigate different play equipment and environments. 🌟 Park visits also support social development as children practise sharing spaces, taking turns and interacting with their peers. 🤝😊 Spending time outdoors promotes wellbeing, curiosity and connection with the natural environment. 🌿☀️💚
