📖🦀 The children have been busy becoming authors!

Working alongside their Kindergarten Educator, they created a delightful storybook about Indie the hermit crab, who travels to Dunsborough to visit her grandma. Through storytelling experiences like this, children develop important literacy skills while exploring their creativity and imagination.

With Book Week coming up next week, it has been such a joy to see all the literacy-rich experiences and excitement for stories happening throughout the centre. Watching the children share their ideas, create characters, and bring their story to life has been truly special.

We love seeing their ideas come to life! 💙📚✨

This week in our Toddler Room, the children have been exploring and learning about the beloved story The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. 🐛🍎📚

As part of our learning, the children participated in a STEM-inspired Hungry Caterpillar tuff tray experience. Through this hands-on activity, they extended their fine motor skills by using tongs to pick up and move small objects, while also developing their sorting skills, cognitive thinking, and problem-solving abilities. The children enjoyed feeding different resources to the caterpillar and exploring the concept of categorising items.

We also enjoyed a fun Hungry Caterpillar card game during group time. Together, we looked at the different food cards and discussed the foods we eat at home. The children learned about "everyday" foods and "sometimes" foods, sharing their own experiences and favourite meals with their friends. Each child had the opportunity to choose their favourite food card, tell the group what it was, and then feed it to the Hungry Caterpillar.

Through these engaging experiences, our little learners learned about a variety of foods, healthy eating habits, and the importance of making nutritious choices to help our bodies grow strong. We loved hearing the children's conversations about what they eat for lunch at daycare and what they enjoy eating at home with their families.

What a wonderful week of learning, exploring, and building important skills through play! 🐛🍓🥕🍉💚

🚀🪐 This month, the children in Kindy have been learning all about space! 🌎✨

From exploring the planets in our solar system to discovering the moon, stars, and astronauts, the children have been engaged in a range of exciting, hands-on learning experiences.

Learning about space helps children develop their curiosity, imagination, and problem-solving skills while introducing early science and STEM concepts in a fun and meaningful way. Through play, discussions, art, and creative activities, the children have been asking questions, making discoveries, and expanding their understanding of the world beyond Earth.

We have loved seeing their excitement as they learn about the wonders of space and dream about what might be waiting among the stars! ⭐🌙🚀

🌼 Celebrating Djilba Through Creativity and Culture 🌼

Today in our Toddler Room, our little learners enjoyed celebrating Djilba, a special Noongar season that marks the beginning of spring and a time of new life, growth, and transformation.

As part of our learning journey, the children explored the beauty of wattle art and craft, using their creativity to contribute to our cultural tree display. Through painting, sticking, and creating vibrant yellow wattles, the children developed their fine motor skills while connecting with the natural world around them.

Learning about Djilba helps children build an appreciation for Indigenous perspectives, seasonal changes, and the importance of caring for Country. The wattle, a significant sign of the season, inspired curiosity, conversation, and hands-on exploration as the children worked together to create something meaningful and beautiful.

We are proud to support cultural learning experiences that foster respect, belonging, creativity, and a deeper connection to Aboriginal culture from an early age.

💛🌿 Our cultural tree is blooming with the children's wonderful wattle creations, celebrating the spirit of Djilba and the joy of learning together. 🌿💛

It’s Keep Australia Beautiful Week! 🌿♻️

This week is a wonderful reminder that even the smallest actions can make a big difference in protecting our environment and keeping our communities beautiful for future generations.

In our Nursery Room, our little learners have been busy scooping up and collecting rubbish to help keep their environment clean💚

While they are having fun exploring and learning, they are also developing an understanding of sustainability, caring for the world around them, and the important role they can play in their community.

These hands-on experiences provide valuable early learning opportunities, helping children build confidence, responsibility, and a sense of belonging as they learn that their actions matter.

We encourage families to join in this week too. Whether it's picking up a piece of litter on a walk, recycling at home, or talking about ways to care for the environment, every small action helps create a brighter future for our children.

Together, let's leave our parks, streets, and beaches even better than we found them. 🌏✨

💚♻️🌿
