Been so very Busy Lately, thought id grab and share couple of Pictures showing a flask of Aussie Dockrillia, and another of Aussie Dendrobium Seedlings from an order being Packed ready to Deliver back to the Hybridist today, Very happy with how they have grown since sowing around 12 months ago as they usually take around 15 /18 months to get this well developed in general❤️👍👍

A Couple of Paph Hybrid Seed pods from the same Cross that I’m sowing for a client today , top one will be Green Seed pod Protocol sown , the one underneath will need Dry Seed Sowing Process, as it has Split whilst in Transit to the Lab , maturation times are Critical and it pays to keep track of how long the pods have been fertilised prior to picking them of the plants to send for sowing, I suspect the Green pod will split naturally in 48 hours from today if not Sown asap 😉👍👍

First job of the Day in the Lab this Morning, got some Lovely Phaius Species Green pods for Sowing from a client that had unfortunately split whilst in Transit , simple little push and pull and we have around 2 000 000 Beautiful Creamy yellow seeds for dry seed Protocol sowing now, 😉👍👍

A Green Seed pod of a Laelia Crossing that was sent to us recently for Green Pod Sowing, unfortunately due to warmer temperatures the pod split whilst in Transit, allowing Air into the interior of the Pod Rendering the seed non sterile, Some labs will refuse to sow Seed in this Circumstance, However we at SOV Labs will endeavour to carefully extract and save the seed if possible and resort to using Dry Seed Antiseptic Treatment to Reduce the chance of Mould spores or Pathogens contaminating the media or newly sown seeds once they are Flasked , thus ensuring our clients receive the best possible solutions to ensure a successful Germination of Their Orchid seeds , there is around 2 Heaped Tablespoons of healthy dark dry seed sitting in front of the empty seed pod it formed in, as you can see there is no hint of yellowing of the pod to warn of impending Maturation of the seeds within, 7 to 9 months is a general time associated with maturity of most Laelia Seed, different Hybrid lines, Climate Growing environment and style all can alter seed Maturation Period, experience is the best teacher, already we are starting to see some Developing Protocorms from this particular sowing after only a few weeks since sowing 😉👍👍

Beautiful formed Sarcochilus making its 3rd Seedling leaf in Flask , fully formed little Plant with everything it needs to survive, albeit a little longer in their Glass or PP cocoons , that’s why we Replate them onto a more Nutritious and Effective Media to help them on their way , over the next few months these seedlings will slowly expand and increase in size in conjunction with Root development to suit , so In about 4 months time these little ones may be large enough to decant and begin their Journey in the real world, 😉😉👍

Some very healthy happy Primary Hybrid Paph Seedlings we have produced here at SOV LABS Victoria, these are in a Wide mouth type Flask instead of the Narrow Neck type Balloon flasks I’ve been working towards trying to produce Paph seedlings of The size and vigour of the Labs overseas, , I’m quite happy with how these have performed , and am looking forward to Decanting them once I get some ( Spare Lol ) Time 😉🙏👍

Around 200 just Differentiating Sarcochilus Hybrid seedlings that have been Re spread onto a new Plate of Growth Formulation Media in a 500ml Flask that will help these little Seedlings rapidly develop over the next 6 to 8 weeks before being final Replated to grow on to decanting size , Ensuring them the best start at this stage is vital for healthy and vigorous seedlings at Decanting time and can in some instances when production using Green Pod sowing Protocols can shave around 12 months or more from Reaching flowering stage depending on Genera on other Factors 😉👍
