🔬 National Science Week – Science Rotations! 🔬

Our P–4 students had a fantastic day celebrating National Science Week on Wednesday by taking part in three hands-on science activities!

🪂 Gravity – Students designed and tested slow-falling parachutes for their Lego man to travel safely to the ground.

🔊 Sound Waves – Students explored how they could use sound waves to make salt ‘dance’ during the activity ‘Screaming Bowls’.

🌈 Colour Mixing – Students watched colours travel, mix and blend as they soaked through paper towel to make the shape of a rainbow.
It was a great day of experimenting, predicting, testing and discovering!

🏐NETBALL VICTORIA PRIMARY SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS🏐

We’re excited to see Dunkeld Consolidated School represented at the Netball Victoria Primary School Championships at Pedrina Park this Wednesday, 19 August!

Our Year 5/6 students will be taking to the court with two teams, including three Cavendish Primary School students also joining one of our teams for the competition.

A big thank you to Robyn Fry and Kathy Mibus for generously volunteering their time to umpire for our school on the day. We also thank Mrs Phillips for supervising our teams, along with the parents who are assisting and supporting our students throughout the day.

Good luck to all our players! We hope you have a fantastic day, enjoy the competition and represent Dunkeld Consolidated School with pride.

We’re excited to celebrate the launch of local author Emma Stuart’s brand-new children’s book, Big Mountain, Little Emu!

This is a free community event and a wonderful opportunity to come along, meet Emma and celebrate her new book.

🧀 Friday Cheese Toasties = A Huge Success!

Our Student Voice Friday Cheese Toastie initiative has been a fantastic success, with students enjoying a delicious lunch while raising valuable funds for our school's Memory Garden.

A huge thank you to our dedicated Year 6 Leaders and Miss Hintum for bringing this idea to life each week, and to Lea McArthur for preparing everything the night before. We also extend our sincere thanks to the Dunkeld Artisan Bakery for generously donating the bread, it is greatly appreciated by our school community.

🧪🔬 National Science Week is coming! 🔬🧪

Celebrate National Science Week (15–23 August) by entering our Science Week Drawing Competition!

🎨 Theme: Draw yourself as a future scientist of your choice.

Instructions and templates have been sent home with students.

Hand your completed artwork to the school office or Mrs Wilson (by August 21st) to go into the running for some fantastic prizes.

🏆 Winners will be announced at assembly. We can't wait to see your amazing ideas and future scientific careers come to life!

✨Melbourne Camp 2026✨

What an incredible few days our Year 5/6 students had on camp this Term!
From exploring Melbourne's iconic landmarks to making lifelong memories with their classmates, there were smiles from start to finish.

The students represented Dunkeld Consolidated School with pride, showing outstanding manners, respect and enthusiasm wherever they went. In recognition of their exceptional behaviour and the way they conducted themselves throughout the camp, Mrs Phillips awarded the entire Year 5/6 class with an Optima Semper Award for always doing their best.

To top it all off, the MCG tour staff personally contacted our school to commend our students on what a wonderful group they were to host, something we are incredibly proud of.

A special mention also goes to Mrs McShane, who bravely tackled the ice skating rink... although she insists she's "lucky to be alive" and has officially retired from skating! ⛸️😂

Congratulations to our amazing Year 5/6 students on being such fantastic ambassadors for our school. We hope you enjoy this glimpse into a memorable week filled with fun, friendship and plenty of adventure! 💙

Exciting Progress on Our Accessibility Upgrade!

There has been plenty of activity around Dunkeld Consolidated School over the past few weeks, and it's fantastic to see our accessibility upgrade taking shape.

The new access ramps are now well advanced, with timber decking installed, concrete pathways poured and framing completed. Work has also progressed on our DDA-compliant toilet, including a new automatic sliding door, window replacement and internal painting. Over the coming weeks, handrails and balustrades will be installed, along with the completion of flooring, vinyl and final painting.

These improvements will provide safer, more accessible facilities for our students, staff, families and visitors, ensuring everyone can access our school with greater ease and confidence.

We're pleased that the project remains on schedule and is expected to be completed before the end of July.

Thank you to our students, staff, families and the Joinly team for your patience and cooperation while these important works are underway. We can't wait to share the finished result with our community!

Join us at our Whole School Assembly on Thursday 25th June at 9:30am in the School Hall for a fun-filled morning of music performances, our Year 5/6 presentation, honour certificate awards and a very special birthday celebration.
