Dungog High School students have been building valuable skills and gaining their Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) qualification.

The course was fully supported by the Educational Pathways Program (EPP) and Dungog High School, while delivered locally by Novaskill, giving students the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification and a valuable skill for future employment in hospitality.

A great example of industry-focused training helping students get career ready!

The latest On Country excursion for the Djukal Ngarra group saw seven of our Year 8 students exploring Baiame Cave and other culturally significant sites near Broke. Tour guide Uncle Warren Taggart showed the students a range of cave paintings and shared stories of Baiame, the maker of all things.

Fifteen students from Muswellbrook High School, Cessnock High School, Mount View High School, Kurri Kurri High School and Dungog High School recently took part in the Upper Hunter Headstart Electrotechnology Pre-Apprenticeship Program.

Delivered by HunterNet Career Connections at MAJOR Training, the program provided students with hands-on experience, practical industry skills and the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications in Electrotechnology.

Students successfully completed training in:
🔹 Work health and safety in the workplace
🔹 Fabricating, assembling and dismantling utilities industry components
🔹 Fixing and securing electrotechnology equipment

A huge congratulations to all 15 students on their commitment and achievement. MAJOR Training even commented that this group was the best group they have ever had!

But the learning doesn’t stop there! Students will continue their industry immersion this week with visits to Hedweld and AGL, followed by the Omnia Wheel experience.

A big thank you to Ruby from HunterNet and all of the Careers Advisers who worked hard to get students organised and make this fantastic EPP opportunity possible.

It’s been an incredible opportunity for students to build skills, gain qualifications, experience industry and take another step towards future apprenticeship pathways.
